What are the differences between the models?
T5 Standards have chrome hardware and simple micro dot inlays. T5 Customs have gold hardware and the
Taylor Artist inlay on the fretboard. Maple tops are available on either the T5 Standard or T5 Customs.
Koa tops are available on the T5 Custom only.
Why is there an acoustic bridge on an electric guitar?
Because it's a fully acoustic body, not a chambered solidbody. Unlike other designs of the past, the T5's
top makes a major contribution to the tone. The T5's bridge is set like an acoustic guitar in order to
maximize the influence of the top. This gives the electric player dynamics and power not available on any other instrument.
Why are there 2 strap buttons?
Have you ever tried to set your guitar down without a stand and watched in horror as it tips over and
falls to the ground? The two end pins allow you to safely sit your guitar down anywhere.
Can I get a left-handed T5?
Yes, we do offer T5's in left handed models. There is no additional charge, ask your Taylor dealer for more information about ordering.
Why does the saddle top look like a wave?
Each saddle position has been carefully analyzed and positioned to provide the best intonation for
each string all over the neck. Once we had the saddle offsets defined, Bob created this elegant design
that incorporated all offsets on a single wave-like line. We call it a Wave Compensated saddle.
What is the scale length?
24 7/8 inches. (Short Scale)
What is the nut width?
1 11/16 inches.
Is the T5 solid?
No, it's actually fully hollow.
How does the T5 work as an Electric guitar and an Acoustic guitar?
It's a combination of the physical instrument design and the electronics package. The floating top
and bridge provide the character needed for a great acoustic tone, and the pickups/preamp deliver
the tones of a world-class electric.
