Blue House
"No animals were harmed during the recording of this project," quip the liner notes of Blue House's first full-length CD, Almost 10, an engaging pop-inflected fusion of acoustic, rock, folk, and blues. Songwriters Marlies de Veer and Amy Beasley, Blue House's creative nucleus, have been collaborating since high school, and it shows in the easy, intuitive way their vocal harmonies complement each other and dovetail into a unified sound. Anchored by drummer/percussionist Curtis Cooper, de Veer and Beasley weave their multi-instrumental talents into a wonderful wardrobe of relaxed, mid-tempo tunes that should appeal to fans of different music genres. Blue House has opened for a wide range of performers, from Phish to k.d. lang, and has amassed a large, devoted following around the San Francisco Bay area. De Veer says each of their three Taylors used contributed its own unique tone. "The 812-C was played with fingerpicks, while the 414 and 855 were flatpicked for a full, rich sound."

"…de Veer and Beasley have that innate vocal synchronicity that only a handful of groups (Indigo Girls and Heart spring to mind) ever achieve…"
