Inventive fingerstylist and former Taylor staffer D.R. Auten is back in Southern California after spending a couple of years in Nashville.
Auten's return to the San Diego area in May 1999 coincided with the release of his Guitar Toons, a CD, illustrated tab book, and coloring/storybook
"for children of all ages". The project features a collection of new and old Auten compositions (played on his custom Taylor Jumbo) that combine his
tuneful guitartistry with a knack for coaxing from the instrument uncanny imitations of sounds made by insects, reptiles, and other creatures that
inhabit the coloring book's storyline. One of the tracks, "If Only I Had Wings", will be included in the Mel Bay CD/book project, Fingerstyle Guitar
Anthology, scheduled for release in late 1999.
