Girls With Guitars
Ferryn Martin and Kelly Wallin are more than Girls With Guitars. The singer-songwriter acoustic duo from Houston also has a knack for lush, spirited vocals that resemble the Indigo Girls in the way their distinctive timbres harmonize. And it's not only the union of their voices, but the graceful way their vocals ride their guitar rhythms, that make their music so inviting.

Martin's long and diverse musical background includes choral work, stage productions, and Broadway. Her honeyed soprano can delicately lift a ballad or put a good ol' Texas scuff on blues tune. Wallin's deeper, darker voice undercores Martin's, creating both a wonderful tension and balance. Trained in classical and acoustic guitar, along with various wind instruments, Wallin handles all the leads and "fancy" fretwork on On Our Way with her 814-C, and can swing from fingerstyle counterpoint to bluesy bending.

On Our Way shows off the duo's versatility and their appreciation for the many facets of life, "from the humorous to the heartfelt" as they put it. The upbeat "The Best of Me" brims with the intoxication of new love; while "I Wonder," a haunting tribute to James Byrd (an African-American man who was beaten, chained to a pickup truck, and dragged to his death in Jasper, Texas by three white men), yearns for tolerance. Martin and Wallin's sensitivity and infectious passion for life have captivated audiences throughout the Texas area.

"Girls With Guitars offers finely crafted music, combining poignant harmonies and skillful guitar playing. Their songwriting reveals their sensitivity, their love of life and their hope for the future."
