This is the gospel according to Kim. Nashville singer-songwriter Kim Patton Johnston's vibrant country-gospel writing has established her as a
prolific figure in gospel and contemporary Christian music. Perhaps best known for penning the song and video "No Stone to Throw" for the gospel
vocal trio Sierra, Patton Johnston also earned a Grammy nomination and helped two-time Gospel Group of the Year, The Martins, win a Dove Award and
Grammy nomination as Album of the Year for Light of the World. Recently, she has been playing and singing with recording artist Shana Morrison.
A former member of both the bluegrass band, Fox Run, and the country gospel acoustic band, Crooked Halos, as well as co-founder of blues rockers the Mason-Patton Band,
Patton Johnston's songs have been cut by Wynonna, Patty Loveless, Tracy Byrd and Susan Ashton. And for years, she has hosted "Round She Goes",
Nashville's only continuing women-in-the-round show at the famous Bluebird Café. She and her husband, songwriter-producer Joe Johnston, also conduct
songwriting seminars and guitar workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Her third album, The Call, is a compelling expansion of traditional gospel that embraces blues, country, and pop idioms. "It's all about God and about
spirituality," Kim says. "It's about where I am right now, at this point in my life, and the way I see the truth. I believe people can sense it when
I sing what I truly believe."
