The lolling California pop pastels of Jeff Larson's Watercolor Sky invoke the peaceful easy-feelin' vibe of America, the Eagles, early Jackson
Browne, Dan Fogelberg, and the Beach Boys. Sun-dappled melodies, sensitive lyrics, and shimmering harmonies sway each song like a palm tree's
slow dance with a summer SoCal breeze. Impeccably blended Beach Boy-esque harmonies soak many tracks, thanks to the co-production of studio
ace Gary Griffin and longtime Beach Boys singer/guitarist Jeffrey Foskett. "King of Summer" is a jangly paean to Brian Wilson; "Annabelle"
is a previously unreleased tune penned by Larson's friend (and fellow Taylor player) Gerry Beckley (America). The idyllic imagery celebrates
California's ubiquitous sense of hope, of possibility, of finding or perhaps drifting back to a better place in life. On "Coast",
Larson serenely suggests that we "leave the minor chord behind." Larson has opened for America, folk singer-songwriter John Stewart,
and Tonio K; and has attracted a large following throughout Europe, particularly in the Netherlands.
"Larson obviously has a lot on his mind, and he's able to express it in literate, lyrical ways that require repeated listening."
Performing Songwriter
"Larson's canvas just resonates with crisp, clean harmonies, acoustic guitars, and brightly colored imagery of sun, sand, sea, and surf, painting the perfect summer soundtrack and lovingly painting the magic of his heroes."
