Logan's Well calls its music "Amero-Celt contemporary folk", and the San Francisco Bay area trio describes its latest album, Thunder Perfect
Mind, as a "moody blend of traditional and original music." Celtic and Appalachian styles are seasoned with bluesy inflections, as guitarists
Steve Baughman and former Acoustic Guitar magazine editor Dylan Schorer - both superb fingerstylists - weave an intricate sonic latticework,
using a variety of alternate tunings to create a hypnotic and brooding sound. Carleen Duncan's exquisite vocals soar and swoop, exhibiting a
powerful, dramatic range that swings from plaintive to triumphant, and deepens the otherworldly quality of the mix. The trio's arrangements
renovate old fiddle and hornpipe tunes, and incorporate the nimble percussion of the traditional Celtic bodhran, as well as tabla, dumbek,
and talking drum.
