Overview

UV Finish
Developed for Taylor in 1995, our ultraviolet-cured finishes provide the striking appearance, smooth feel, and lasting protection you'd expect to find on our guitars. Unlike lacquer finishes, Taylor's UV finish is resistant to cold-checking and is much more environmentally friendly. It's also clearer than lacquer and doesn't turn yellow, so wood grain and natural colorations are more distinct. It contains as many "solids" as thicker finishes, so a thinner application provides the same protection while still allowing the tonewood to breath. Plus, it ages the same way that we like a good lacquer finish to age, allowing the guitar to "open up" as it's played over the years.

Available in satin with gloss top on the 300 and 400 Series, or gloss top, back, and sides on the 500 Series and up.

Varnish
A durable varnish finish offers protection, good looks, and a smooth feel to the touch.
