This select batch came from the crotch of a Hawaiian koa tree, where a large branch met the trunk, adding extra weight that compressed the wood. The sets were flatsawn to produce the feathered appearance, in which the flame radiates dramatically outward from the centerline. The shaded edge adds a subtle contrast that gives the rest of the top an exquisite golden glow.
