Musicwood is a critically acclaimed documentary that chronicles the struggle to preserve the future of old-growth Sitka spruce trees in Southeast Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. Decades of controversial clear-cutting have prompted an alliance between environmentalists and prominent guitar companies including Taylor, Martin, Fender and Gibson. Their mission: to persuade the Native American Sealaska Corporation, the largest non-federal landholder in Southeast Alaska, to rethink their logging practices and adopt a responsible forestry management plan before the supply of spruce — a revered tonewood for acoustic guitar soundboards — disappears, along with other habitats and species. Follow Bob Taylor, Chris Martin of Martin Guitar, and Dave Berryman of Gibson Guitars as they travel to Alaska to make their case, and hear from artists including Kaki King, Yo La Tengo, The Antlers, and Steve Earle. Running time: 80 minutes.  Model #72037
