300 series and higher (non-Studio models) are made in the US.
What is the string spacing for this Nylon-String guitar: Taylor Academy 12e-N?
1 5/8" at the nut, 2 3/16" at the saddle.

What do the model numbers mean on your Academy guitars?
If the model ends in a "2" it's a Grand Concert sized guitar. If it ends in a "0" it's a dreadnought.
What is the nut made out of and can I order a new nut?
The nut is NuBone by GraphTech. We recommend GraphTech Tusq as a replacement. It's available through customer service at 1-800-943-6782.
I own the A12, Is the nut size the same with the nylon strung.?
No. The nylon is wider. The steel string version is 1-11/16", the nylon is 1-7/8"
What is the true scale length? Some descriptions say "shorter neck" but specs I've seen say standard 25.5

At the 12th fret, 8/64" on the low E, 6/64" on the high E.
is the 12e a full sized guitar?
Yes. It's a hair smaller than our standard Grand Concert body size but it is a full size guitar.

What is the difference between 12e and 12e-N ?
The 12e-N is a nylon string model. The 12e is steel string.
I don’t see a place to adjust a truss rod. Can the neck not be adjusted?
The truss rod can be adjusted at the headstock, behind the truss rod cover.

Fills a unique niche with quality and price.
This is my seventh Taylor guitar. I have been wanting a nylon string guitar like this for quite a while. I have a true, flat fretboard, 2” wide neck classical and really don’t like to play it. I play fingerstyle almost exclusively. I couldn’t justify spending a bunch of money for one of Taylor’s higher priced products. I am very happy with this purchase. It is typical Taylor quality and the sound is what I would call “unique”. It is very easy to play. I can see that it may become my go to informal practice instrument and a good guitar to just set on the couch and noodle with. Easy in the fingers. Would make a good guitar for someone to start off with.

This is the quality I expected from Taylor. Even on a budget-friendly instrument like this I get beautiful, rich, balanced tones. The guitar is also satisfying to the touch. I highly recommend this guitar!

Not what i expected
I had been waiting a very long time to purchase a Taylor quitar,and when it finaly arrived, i was realy disappointed!
Cons...
The build-in tuner was faulty ,strange for a quality quitar like that.I contacted Taylor via email,and they told me that its difficult to tune their classical quitars with the build-in tuner, and i sould try the harmonics on the 12th fret! Then why u put a build in tuner on your quitars? Also they told me to send the quitar back for service! Well, i send it back once and for all.
Additionally, the wood on the quitar is extremely thin and there is no lacquer finish,whitch makes it look like its made from plywood.

Sorry to hear about your struggles with the electronic built-in tuner. Tuning with harmonics is a solid tip for any digital tuner. Harmonics provide a cleaner note without all the overtones that can confuse a tuner, so it locks in on the fundamental more easily for quicker tuning.
The thin varnish finish protects the wood without dampening like a thicker finish would, which allows the guitar to sound as full and rich as possible.

My new taylor
Wonderful instrument. Nice shape bass notes, clear trebles but not crazy high; a very good , wide fretboard of ebony and the torrified spruce top makes the difference. De-greened much of the wood. I like where the walnut sits inbetween Rosewood and mohogony, brings out the best of the two woods for BnS.

if you had to have just one guitar...
If I had to sell all my instruments but one, this is the one I would keep. What a gift it is for any player (or student} to have such a playable and inviting instrument at this price point. I keep this within easy reach at all times and you should too! Well done Taylor. Keep up the great work
