I received this product today and tried it on my 314ce guitar. However, the cartridge is larger than my old one, so it feels like it's not going in properly. Also, I'm using a 9V battery from Amazon, and the cartridge is larger than the battery, so it keeps moving up and down. Is this okay?

YOUNG BO C.

Best answer Glen W. Taylor Guitars staff

The battery moves freely in this newer cartridge. The outside dimensions are the exact same, so it should fit your 9v battery box with no problem. What you're describing sounds like the perfect fit.

I have the GS Mini. My current battery cartridge is very tight to insert with the battery and even harder to get out. How will this help without replacing the battery box assembly?

Harry D.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

Over the last few years battery manufacturers started making 9 volt batteries larger then the 9 volts from when your guitar was designed and manufactured. This new cartridge was re-designed after we found out about that change. The inner diameter is larger to house the larger batteries but still fit well within the power supply assemblies from the past. If you are having to squish a battery into the current cartridge, it is likely deforming the shape of the cartridge and causing it to fit tight.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

My Taylor 714 CE was making lots of noise when hooked up to the amp. I spoke with Derek Rodriguez at Taylor Guitars who suggest replacing the battery cartridge.

Very inexpensive component to purchase , and solved my problem instantly. Very pleased.

Perfect drop and fit! Fits newer 9 volt batteries which the previous version did not. Have this overnighted for an important customer's repair and it arrived safe and sound unbelievably fast.

Great replacement battery cartridge!

The stock battery cartridge was so difficult to get the 9volt battery out from. This new replacement one is a perfect fit. Highly recommended.

Taylor ES2 Battery Cartridge install

Awesome! Fit perfectly and easy to install. Solved the issue of the battery kicking out.

After all, it’s just a battery holder.

The cartridge is improved over the circa 2008 version. Longer life batteries were too big and difficult to remove. Avoid using Duracell as example as longer life is achieved by a larger battery. I own a Baby Taylor, and a 414ce, which I am very satisfied with.

Good cartridge

Works great with larger rechargeable 9V batteries

The new battery cartridge is great for larger 9V battery sizes. I use fairly large EBL 9V rechargeable batteries, and they fit perfectly.

I love my Taylor guitar. Keep it right next to my couch so I can play it several times a day.

Newer, better battery cartridge.

5 out of 5 stars Wayne B.

I always wondered why it was so hard to get the 9V battery in and out of the old cartridge. I also was having loose connection noise problems. It turns out, thanks to the Taylor technician, that the old battery cartridge was too small for the newer 9V batteries. This also cause the battery to be too tight and not be able to float into the connectors. New cartridge installed and my guitar is once again a high-quality Taylor. Rock On!

did the job. hasn't cracked yet . used it for over a year now

New battery holder works great

5 out of 5 stars Todd C.

Purchased one for my 210 to fit the slightly larger batteries that are out, the new compartment works great with the new batteries. Gonna order 2 more for my other Taylors.

Careful with Duracell 9v batteries in Taylor guitars

1 out of 5 stars Chris C

Not really Taylor's fault, but by now most people are aware of the fact that Duracell batteries are a bit thicker, making it often impossible to remove them with out forcing, eventually leading to breaking the locking tab.

Response from Taylor Guitars, Glen W.

Hi Chris,
This piece was redesigned several years ago to accommodate the fatter batteries that are being manufactured these days. There should be no issues fitting a 9v battery in this piece. Thanks!
