I bought a set of classic ebony pins and they fit perfectly with my GS Mini Koa.  However, when I bought and tried the ebony with abalone dots, it doesn't fit the GS Mini Koa nor the GS Mini Mahogany.  The place I bought it from said it will not fit the GS Minis.  Is it true that the classic will fit but the one with abalone dots will not? That is my experience so far.

Carmelo M.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

Our classic ebony pins and ebony pins with abalone dots are the same size—the only difference is the decorative dot. Both feature a 3°–3.5° taper and the same overall dimensions.

That said, slight variations in the string slot size can occur, which sometimes affects how the pins seat in different guitars. We recommend using the pins with the larger string slots for the bass strings whenever possible to ensure a proper fit.

The ebony pins are shorter than the plastic ones and on the 214 ce they cause a vibration on the strings. is this the reason and is it better to go back to the plastic ones? Even though they are shorter, can they still be used?

Massimiliano M

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

If the ball ends are fully seated against the pin plate as designed, there shouldn’t be any room for rattling. Just make sure to tug the strings firmly against the pin plate when re-stringing.

Simple but perfect.

5 out of 5 stars Joe Garfield

These bridge pins are not flashy but they are incredibly consistent in look and fit, and the quality seems about as good as one can expect. These fit my Big Baby Taylor. Taylor says the ebony pins are slightly larger by a few thousandths than the plastic pins. One or two were a hair more snug than the plastic pins, but after pulling and replacing them once everything is a perfect fit. They all sit flush on the bridge. Tone is subjective but they made my acoustic guitar instantly sound as if Jerry Garcia was playing it and not me. Just kidding, of course ;)
Highly recommend.
