Big Baby Taylor (BBTe)
The Big Baby Taylor has long been a popular choice for new learners and experienced players alike thanks to its combination of punchy tone and portability. A slightly scaled-down Dreadnought body with a narrower depth provides an accommodating feel whether you play seated or standing, and the slender neck offers comfortable fretting regardless of your skill level. With a solid spruce top for projection and built-in electronics with a digital tuner, the Big Baby Taylor is a great option for practice, travel, lessons and more. Sorry, the TaylorSense does not install in the Big Baby. Since it's built into the 9v battery box assembly, it can only be installed into guitars using the 9v ES battery box.

Yes, and there are two you should check out. Grand Concert sized guitars are just about the same size and GT models are slightly smaller. They have more rounded body shapes. Both are made in all solid wood with a standard neck joint.
Just a bought a brand new Baby and when I got it home and took it out of the box I noticed pretty bad discoloration on the fretboard. Is it supposed to have this look? Cause the floor model at the store didn't, or at least wasn't as significant that I'd notice.
That's normal. Natural Ebony often has caramel colored spots or sections.

Do you offer a hard case instead of the gig bag?
No, we don't offer hard cases for these models. However, SKB Cases makes a hard case for the Babys.
Will this fit in an airplane overhead compartment?
The guitar will fit in most overhead compartments, but you may want to check with your airline for their rules about stowing something that's not the dimensions of a rollerboard-type suitcase. Also, if you do stow it in a plane's overhead compartment, you'll want to make sure other passengers don't place baggage on top of the guitar.
How does the size of the Big Baby compare to other Taylor models?
The Big Baby Taylor is larger than the Baby Taylor and the GS Mini, but smaller than full-size models from the Academy Series and up.

Taylor Big Baby Acoustic/Electric
The Taylor Big baby is an excellent choice for beginners as well as advanced players. I own a Walnut body guitar and use it to accompany other instruments and church choir. It sounds amazing and is lightweight and a comfortable, manageable size.

the combination of torrefied spruce top ang Walnut back and sides and its unique body shape are the qualities that gives it a bolder and warm but balanced sound.
As i made a comparison between BBTe and GSmini, i personally found the BBTe sound more appealing to me hence, i chose it over the GS Mini.
The only thing that i noticed upon purchased is it needs a proper set up to better improve the sound and its playability.

nice guitar for. $600
its ok for a $600 guitar. Bought it because it sounds pretty good, plays ok, and has an electronic pickup and tuner. Comes with a nice case. Replaced the pins and the strings.
I'm an old guy so all my acoustics are old Martins before they had pickups, so I needed a good quality smaller guitar with a pickup.
My newest Martin is a 1997 OOOM, which is about the same size as the Taylor and cost $600 also - in 1997.
The OOO is much easier to play and sounds much better, but it's almost 30 years old, and a Martin, so...

I enjoy this quality instrument at a great price.
I’ve read the reviews and accept that everyone has an opinion. My opinion is that this guitar is VERY comfortable in every aspect. Tone is right in the middle, which is more than acceptable in this price range. For a $600 guitar, the big baby is an excellent value. I’m more than happy with it. I was skeptical of the screws holding on the neck, but they don’t interfere with playability at all. The design actually allows you to access the bottom frets without having a cutaway. I actually enjoy the feature. Brilliant design really. I play right over the screws and you’d never even know they were there without looking. Action was average, but with little effort, I brought it down to my liking. No guitar is going to come set up for your exact preference. Tuners are fine and holds tune very well. I like this little guitar and thoroughly enjoy playing it. Just comfortable to play. I liked it the second I picked it up. I’d recommend buying one to anyone in the market for a quality, reasonably priced guitar. I don’t believe you have to pay thousands of dollars to get a good guitar. No matter how much you spend on an instrument, I think some people just like to show off how much they can spend just to impress others. I’m more impressed by a modest player with skills that spends wisely and can actually play the instrument well. No matter what you spend, that expensive guitar won’t miraculously make you a better player. Practice and patience will do that. Thank you Taylor for a quality instrument at a reasonable price.

Taylor has been a dream and it justifies the hype around the name. The big baby is the perfect size for me since I don’t find jumbo sizes comfortable. The tone is just amazing and the pickup is just wow. Grateful owner.

Neck had to be removed And shimmed. Neck angle was not right from the factory ? Tuners are fine as well as the electronics. Maybe you should think about putting a small binding around the Top. On slip and you have a ding on the edge ! Overall a nice compact Guitar.

First Taylor
I was really torn between this and a Martin but what sold me on this Taylor were several things: the values of the company, the gig bag and the sound of the guitar itself. My BBT just had a warmer and more mellow tone that just pulled me in. Have NEVER regretted my decision. I love my BBT!!!!

Very good sound, sustain and tuning for the price. But it was hard at first.
After a very hard start, with the instrument doing some scary creaking noise (coming from where the body meet the neck) and the action very very high, I was able to bring the instrument to the only Taylor official luthier in my country and he was able to lower the action and reduce the appearance of the creaking noise after re-screwing the neck.
I do not know if the creaking noise is a known thing on this 2 screws only guitars, but I learning to live with it. The Luthier wasn't able to find anything wrong with it.
Now, the sound is amazing and the guitar stays in tune all over the fretboard. The sustain is pretty good too. For been one of the budget instruments of the brand is pretty good.

Playable, well made -- but would like richer tone.
Well made, playable, sounds great for chording. But I won't give five stars because I am a bit disappointed with the tone and responsiveness for fingerstyle playing. I was looking for a richer woodier deeper tone which, based on experience, I expected to come alive after a few days of heavy playing. I know: this is a "baby" guitar. But I have played cheap parlour guitars (Arts&Luthier) with more life. A fatter sound. I'll take it in for the checkup and get some fresh strings and see whether that makes a difference ... Interestingly, I tried out more expensive Taylors in the shop; I could tell the tone was better, richer, but not enough better to tempt me to spend double the amount or more.

Major Quality Control Issues
Taylor quality control has greatly reduced. My guitar arrived with the bolt-on neck mounted crooked as well as other more minor issues (even the serial number tag inside wasn't put on straight). Clearly, no one looked it over very well before it went out the door. I contacted Taylor to see if I could exchange it and provided photos of the obvious defects. My request was denied and was simply provided with a sparse list of repair shops and phone numbers. I've been a loyal Taylor customer for many years and wanted to add the Big Baby to my collection due to the comfortable size and portability, but unfortunately Taylor's quality control and customer service has gone down the drain.

Best playability and sound for the price
Tried three different guitars in the same price band, from major brands. The Taylor Big Baby stood out in terms of playability and sound. Pleased with the good quality gig bag that comes with the guitar.
Only thing I didn’t like was the absence of a scratch plate on the guitar, so I contacted Europe Customer Services and bought one which was sized correctly for the guitar. It was reasonably priced and dealt with efficiently using the online chat on the Taylor website.

Return of guitar
I am sorry but i had to return my guitar to the shop. The body vas not glued properly together. I could hear it creak and it was impossible to tune it. After one minute playing I had to tune it again. I did not buy a new guitar there.

I love the Big Baby!
I love it. The guitar is beautiful, the sound is beautiful, and it's easy to play. I say this as a person who has had a history of trying to make it work with less expensive guitars, but quality is worth the money.
