taylor  guitar114cc,  when lowering the playing height, increasing truss rod tension, what is the maximum torque before having to service the neck?

Kenny

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

The truss rods purpose is to simply keep the neck straight under string tension. It is not intended to adjust the action. You never won't to over straighten the truss rod, and should never have to torque it down. <a href="https://taylorguitars.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058148332-Truss-Rod-Adjustments" target="_blank">https://taylorguitars.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058148332-Truss-Rod-Adjustments</a>

My favorite thing I own

5 out of 5 stars CatsCoffeeBrainsGuitar

My mother purchased this guitar for me before she passed in 2010, so I’ve had it for around 16 years. Because of that, alongside the quality and sound, it will be my main guitar until I die. It’s the guitar I’d recommend any serious guitar player.

My favorite guitar to pick up and play.

4 out of 5 stars Ronald W.

I love this guitar. It's the sound, if you are strumming, flat-picking, finger-picking, it does everything so well. Of all my guitars this is the one I play about 99 percent of the time. It's my work horse (and I also have a J-45). It's fantastic with vocals, capos well, has a nice smooth satin neck(my favorite to play), and came with a good setup. I've got the layered sapele back and sides and I like the looks more than the walnut, but that's me. It has the slightly narrower nut width standard but I like and play both, and it's maybe slightly easier for me to wrap my thumb I think. The build is a perfection of engineering. But, another reviewer mentioned the thin coating, and same here, I have a spot worn bare below the pick guard. But I play this one all the time cause I love the sound. I love having a guitar that's built solid, sounds awesome, cost so little, and has character (I may touch that spot up yet, maybe).

Song writing game changer exceeding expectations

5 out of 5 stars Shumba

I bought the 114ce just over a year ago. I’m an intermediate guitar player into Rock music. I have been a lyricist and singer for decades but decided I didn’t want to rely on guitarists anymore so picked up guitar 10yrs ago and never looked back.
This 114ce for me has been a complete game changer in writing a song. When one uses a great sounding guitar, songs and lyrics just simply flow.
When I use the guitars natural sound, the tone is clear, well balanced and full. Those nice bass notes with the trings and rings.
I also experiment, I plug into my amp using effects pedals It surprisingly handles effects pedals very well using a feed back plug.

Using it for my songs, it’s the rhythm behind the Drums, Bass, synth and electric guitar. The 114ce is as I said a complete game changer in the sound. It compliments my sound so much, it’s to the degree where I need a better electric guitar now.

If there’s one thing I’d change on the 114ce, it would be the plastic bridge pins. I purchased myself some wood ebony bridge pins and sanded them down for a nice snug fit.

(((Importantly))) I need to mention. The customer support on Taylor Guitars is (((Outstanding))). My 114ce guitar developed a slight problem which was quickly, efficiently dealt with Taylor Guitars head office in Europe. The Netherlands Amsterdam. I’m extremely impressed and grateful for your support. Thank you Susana Raya, the Technicians and Taylor guys at Amsterdam head office very much.

I am in the process of saving for an upgraded Guitar. I am absolutely certain (unequivocally with no doubt) I will get purchasing a Taylor Guitar.

For this time being. I couldn’t be happier with my 114ce Taylor Guitar.

Thank you

Ian

I play this 114ce now 5 years, most fingerstyle. Excellent quality for the price. Good bass, responsive mid and high tones. My only remark is the very thin coating. At some places, where my arm rests on the body, there is just left blank wood.

A definite winner!

5 out of 5 stars Mickey

I've been playing guitar for over 60 years. Guitars come and go, but my 114ce is here to stay! I've owned it for 9 months. As Taylor is famous for the build quality, is immaculate as any of their higher priced models. I run .010 - .047 strings with the 12th. fret low E string a mere 1/16" (2/32") clearance over the fret. No matter how hard I play, I can honestly say I've yet to hear a buzz. That's my idea of perfection. Oddly enough, my laminated sides and back appear to be natural walnut rather than Sapele. It's all good, and a very distinctive contrast with the spruce top.

114ce sapele

5 out of 5 stars Aaronb

Just brought my 114ce home today. This is my first Tayor guitar. The tone sounds pretty high quality for the price I paid for it. Got it for $699 on the Christmas sale at my local guitar shop. I was gonna get a 214ce, but to me the 114 sounds a bit cleaner, especially while finger picking. The tuners to adjust the strings turn super smooth. Comes with a really nice padded soft case with a giant storage pocket. I've been playing for over 11 years and this is the best sounding guitar I've ever played. Completely blows my yamaha out of the water. This is probably the best guitar under $1000. Very happy camper.
