Overview

The first guitar in the 100 Series to feature our Grand Pacific round-shoulder dreadnought body shape, the 117e offers seasoned, neo-vintage tone in a package that's perfect for new learners and working musicians alike. Built with back and sides of layered sapele and a solid torrefied spruce top, this acoustic-electric yields a warm voice with clear projection and low-end power. Our special roasting process for the spruce top adds a mature, aged-in sweetness, while our C-Class interior bracing dials up more volume, sustain and presence in the bass range. Together with the slender, easy-playing neck and built-in ES2 electronics, it all adds up to an exciting playing experience for any type of player.

Features

Grand Pacific

A versatile workhorse, this round-shoulder take on the classic dreadnought body yields clear low-end power and a warm, blended voice.

Treated with our special roasting process, torrefied spruce tops deliver all the clarity, balance and projection you’d expect from a traditional spruce top with an extra dash of warmth and played-in depth.

It is a Grand Pacific, a style that was apparently the basis for developing V-Class bracing, yet the 117/217 Tecate-built models have C-Class bracing instead. Why? And how is it different?

V Class bracing was originally tested on a GP platform prior to the development of the GP. For these two guitars Andy preferred C Class bracing which was inspired by and is a derivative of V Class bracing.

The awesome 117e.

5 out of 5 stars Jerry S.

Love the new 117e. Just recieved it today 1/2/25 and it sounds amazing. Super tone and feel. One of the easiest playing guitars I have. Factory set up was perfect, no string buzz. I own a 327e for at home the 117e will be in the camper. Taylor did a great job on the Grand Pacifics. Best kept secret they designed.

Perfect All Purpose Guitar

5 out of 5 stars Joe G.

I own several Taylors and they've typcially been smaller guitar sizes (GS Mini, GT, Grand Concert). I wanted a big dreadnought and I was intrigued by the 117 since it utilizes C-bracing and I've never owned a guitar with a torriefied top. This guitar is a joy to play with a very well balanced and broken in sound. It's got plenty of room to drive the top and it's still balanced enough to play fingerstyle.

Great guitar, great value!

Just brought it home and played it warm. This is going to be fun. Lovely tone, great playability, reasonable price and good looks. Always fascinated by the low end Taylors' value. This low end is high end compared to many. Great workmanship! Already have had a 150e for a few years. This one fits right in.
