Is there some technical reason the cable needs to be clipped into the internal bracket? Can’t it just be left loose inside the guitar?

Don_S

Best answer Glen W. Taylor Guitars staff

Loose wires rattle inside the guitar when playing, creating unwanted noise.

Hi. What is the optimum height of the top of the pickup relative to the sound hole? At the moment the outside top edges of mine sit about a couple of millimeters above the top surface of the guitar.

Tony G.

Best answer Glen W. Taylor Guitars staff

The pickup height is adjustable.

Is there a battery to replace?

Mikey

Best answer Glen W. Taylor Guitars staff

No battery, it's passive.

Can install this in a Taylor GS mini E?

cielo

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

GS Mini's that already have factory electronics installed are not equipped with the mounting bracket for the ES Go.

As this is a passive device, without a pre-amp, will it be able to drive a small powered acoustic amp, say between 5W and 10W without having to wind up the volume fully?

Tony G.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

It'll sound fine through an amplifier. If you end up going into a mixer you would probably want to go through a preamp first.

How does it not work properly on a left handed GS mini?

Joanne G.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

Due to the different diameters of each string and the orientation of the magnets in the pickup, the string-to-string volume balance will be off with a left-handed guitar.

Is it easily removable?

James M.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

Yes.

What about left handed GS Mini guitars ?

Colin C.

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

Sorry, it does not work properly in left handed guitars.

Good for an amplifier, bad for a sound system

4 out of 5 stars Jason K.

Great pickup for the price. Easy to install. It works well in an amplifier but weak in a sound system.

2 out of 5 stars Rodrigo Ganso

Easy installation. Very Loud Hum noise.

Response from Taylor Guitars, Glen W.

Hi Rodrigo,
Sorry to hear about the hum. A constant hum coming from the ES Go pickup is usually a sign that there is a not a solid ground connection at the amplifier or audio device the guitar is plugged in to. If touching the metal end of the cable or the jack itself makes the noise get quieter or go away completely, you definitely have a grounding problem with your sound system or electrical outlet.

It's important to remember that when you have proper ground, no ground loops, and no electromagnetic interference, there will be no ground noise. The guitar or pickup itself does not create ground noise; it is simply affected by these conditions. Grounding issues can be frustrating and tough to track down, but it's in your best interest to identify the problem, not only for a quiet environment but also for a safe environment.

Please contact us at support@taylorguitars.com for help.

GS Mini ES Go electrical hum problem

3 out of 5 stars Henry

No references to the GS-Mini ES Go grounding problem/Kit. I recorded my annual 2 Worlds Music Christmas album this year and used the GS Mini on several tracks only to find an objectionable hum on these tracks. I had to rerecord those tracks on another guitar as there was no way to filter out the spectrum of background hum from the GS-Mini pickup. I'm also having trouble finding the kit on the Taylor website.

Response from Taylor Guitars, Glen W.

Adding a string ground can help reduce unwanted ground noise when the electrical ground connection is missing or compromised. Please contact customer service to order the part.

4 out of 5 stars Guitar Picker T5z

Works just fine! No hum, no noise, just sound.

disappointing

1 out of 5 stars steven s.

Easy to install. However I'm very disappointed in the sound quality. Loud hum through all amps. Don't waste your money, buy something of better quality. I wished I would have researched reviews on the internet first. Taylor should be ashamed and discontinue this product.

Response from Taylor Guitars, Josh M.

Sorry to hear about the ground hum issue. Please contact our customer service team for help. A ground hum is often caused by a lack of ground on your amp or electrical outlet and we can help troubleshoot.
