Do picks affect the tone of your guitar?
Yes, the material and gauge play a huge part in the sound. The general rule of thumb is the thicker the pick the more volume and richness of tone. Details are listed in the pick descriptions.
Shouldn't I use a thinner pick for a softer sound?
No, this is a common misconception. For a softer sound simply hold the thicker pick slightly looser in your hand. This will produce a fuller tone for any soft sound.
How do I determine which pick thickness is right for me?
Taylor recommends using the thickest pick that feels comfortable and the best way to determine this is simply to get them in your hands!

I love the Taylor Premium Darktone Ivoroid 346 guitar picks!
I started trying this particular pick out after I purchased the Taylor Assorted Pick Tin, that had different types of Taylor picks that came in a small tin
and leather pouch. At first it felt big and a little awkward but after practicing with it, I got more comfortable with it and loved the sound it gave me. You wouldn't think a pick would male much of a difference but it did! Love the spirited but controled sound it produces.
