The beautiful sounds of a 114ce

I just Love this guitar, I’ve had 514ce, 714ce and 814ce and this is absolutely the “Best Sounding and Playing” of them all. I also love the fact that the store I bought it from “Upgraded a few things” like Gotoh Antique Gold 510 tuners 1:21, Rosewood truss rod cover, Ebony bridge pins with Abalone dots and a Deluxe Taylor Guitar Case for the same $899.00

New to Taylor and already conquered!

As an intermediate/advanced guitarist and pro singer i always was attracted by the Taylor song. After owning a gibson songbird and a martin JC 16- rgte, i just got myself a gibson G45 standard walnut/sitka and needed a second guitar for touring and so i got this baby a few days ago.
What a deal!! Amazing playability, loads of gooood youtube material about preamp settings and THE Taylor sound!! Knowing it is made in Mexico also was of interest to me for the quality ratings of that factory.
For the price, i can use this instrument professionaly as i use a three times more expensive Gibson!
Now the gigbag is very good and thick, but i would have apreciated a thin solid layer of recycled plastic included in the backside because the guitar has no inside wood bars reinforcement on the backside, it's just plain which scares me as to the resistance to travels.. i would love Taylor's comment on how they build guitats without these wood bars inside? Is it due to the layered sapele? How thick and resistant is it?
Also the preamp inside seems very naked and humidity sensitive, i would have liked to have it packed insidea recycled plastic case.
Honnestly, this guitar feels like a million bucks and singing with it is a delight. So thank you Taylor for spreading the affordable love🙏🏽

Response from Taylor Guitars, Josh M.

Thanks for the great review and feedback, Emmanuel. We're glad to hear you're enjoying it! The top of the guitar is solid wood and is braced. The back and sides are layered wood which are incredibly strong and need no such bracing.

Love it

Amazing Bang for Your Buck

5 out of 5 stars Scott

I've been a sax player for 25+ years, but picked guitar up about 6 years ago.

Recently I've found myself needing an acoustic-electric to bring to gigs with a good number of songs where there's not much to do on sax. I tried various guitars in the $400-$1000 price range. The local shop in town had some Breedlove, PRS, Fender, and Washburn models, and none of them really jumped out at me so I drove out to the nearest Taylor dealer.

The 114ce-S immediately struck me as very responsive with a huge sound, comfortable, and friendly for a mediocre player like myself. I also tried out the 110ce and 112ce. They were excellent, but this ended up being my favorite.

The fit and finish are outstanding. The matt finish feels fantastic neck-wise, and makes for a very classic look that makes you want to pick it up and play. The frets are extremely well finished, and the polish on them makes everything feel and play smoothly. This is more of a personal preference, but I really like how minimalist the control knobs for the electronics are.

Speaking of the ES2 electronics, they sound awesome. I run through a Helix Floor, and whether I'm at my desk with headphones or playing live with a group, I'm very happy with the sound.

Once you throw all of that in with the included gig-bag (super-nice by the way), this ends up being a great bang-for-your buck guitar at the price point. Very happy with my purchase.
