Overview

Made with our Grand Pacific dreadnought body shape, the 327e yields a seasoned, blended tone that evokes vintage acoustic vibes. Solid mahogany back, sides and top deliver balance, clarity and midrange focus, yielding a bold fundamental note every time with overtones that don't dominate the sound. The onboard V-Class bracing helps draw out more of mahogany's natural warmth, while the mahogany top keeps the attack balanced and smooth. Finished off with a dusky edgeburst color treatment, the 327e ships with ES2 electronics and a hardshell guitar case.

Yes, all guitars in the 300 series have genuine West African Crelicam ebony fretboards and bridges.

As a top wood, how does spruce sound vs. mahogany?

Taylor Guitars

Best answer Taylor Guitars

Aside from the difference in appearance, both wood types are extremely musical. Spruce is lighter in weight and has a broader dynamic range with pleasing overtones. A mahogany top is slightly denser and heavier which translates into a natural compression effect that smoothes out the attack, producing a more focused voice with fewer overtones.

What makes a 12-fret guitar different?

Taylor Guitars

Best answer Taylor Guitars

A 12-fret guitar makes for a more compact playing framework. It combines the lap-friendly Grand Concert body with the slightly condensed fret spacing of the 24-7/8" scale length and the shorter 12-fret-to-the-neck construction. This makes a slinkier "handfeel" and easier fretting as you move up the fretboard. There's a surprising amount of tonal power and midrange warmth from the bridge sitting back a little farther on the lower bout. Also, the slotted headstock creates a more acute string angle over the nut. Because this puts a little more downward pressure on the nut, it'll feel a little more precise to your fretting hand. Notes won't bend quite as easily closer to the nut.

Is this guitar available as a 14-fret model?

Taylor Guitars

Best answer Taylor Guitars

No, this is purpose-built for the neck and body to connect at the 12th fret. This makes for a compact feel that's rare in a 12-string guitar. The tone that results from the placement of the bridge in the guitar's lower bout is advantageous as well.

What's the difference between the Grand Concert and the Grand Auditorium?

Taylor Guitars

Best answer Taylor Guitars

The Grand Concert is considered a small-body guitar. It has an articulate voice with top-end chime and controlled overtones. Its intimate size is lap/couch friendly. The Grand Auditorium is a medium-size guitar and Taylor’s most versatile body shape. It's known for its balanced blend of warmth, clarity and sustain with a well-defined midrange.

Is this guitar solid wood?

Taylor Guitars

Best answer Taylor Guitars

Yes - just like all our US-made instruments, these are constructed from all-solid woods.

I love how this guitar sounds and the way it plays.

5 out of 5 stars Hal T.

I have 5 Taylor guitars but this is the first with the new bracing system. They all play wonderfully but this one pushes hard to sound even better than my 614ce BTO. The sustain is great and the intonation is as good as advertised. I now play this one more than any of the others.
