Now the lowest-priced gateway to the solid-wood experience in the Taylor line, this Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric combines back and sides of sapele with a torrefied spruce top, adding up to a punchy midrange response with a clear, woody character and an added dash of warmth and sweetness from our special roasting recipe. Inside, our V-Class bracing dials up more volume, longer sustain and improved harmony all the way up the neck. This model also features comfort-enhancing chamfered body edges and a slightly narrower fretboard of 1-11/16 inches, offering a hand-friendly feel that makes fretting a breeze regardless of your skill level. Both the 1-11/16" and 1-3/4" nut widths share the same neck carve and depth—the only difference is the width itself.
To get a 1-3/4" nut width, you would need to go with the standard 314ce model rather than the Studio version. The standard 314ce has the same neck profile but comes with the wider 1-3/4" nut. This option is not available on the Studio model.

Both. The neck is crafted in our Tecate, Mexico, factory, while the body is produced in our El Cajon, California, facility. The entire guitar is then finished and assembled in our Tecate factory.

Best birthday present ever.
I had a Taylor 114ce for a number of years. I bought myself the 314ce studio edition after testing other Taylor’s and other brands

Kind of like a Porsche.
I'm just now entering the 'intermediate' stage. Returned to playing about a year ago after a 50 year hiatus. My entry level guitar was playing havoc with my hands, fingers and wrist even though I had changed to Elixer coated light strings. This guitar is so smooth in every respect. Love it love it love it. If you're looking to upgrade from an entry level guitar, I would recommend going straight to this. I do not believe you'd be disappointed.

Better than expected
I’ve had this guitar a few months now, and am extremely happy with it. I have some more expensive Taylor’s and wanted something that I’d be a little more comfortable bringing outdoors or to crowded places. Despite it being lower cost the guitar sounds and plays like a dream! I can’t believe the harmonics, the guitar really sounds alive. I had the neck angle adjusted and the action is better than any of my $X000 electric guitars without needing any fret, nut, or saddle work. The gloss finish gives it a feeling of protection which is nice for outside or when it’s hot. The terrified top sounds rich and full and still plenty loud and clear. I have to say that layered wood construction seems to matter more with some species than others. I have never liked a layered Sapele guitar, but all of Taylor’s solid sapele backs/sides sound amazing. The point is that it’s totally worth the jump into the 300 series with Sapele. Last, I chose this over the standard 314 for a few reasons: 1) I play electric and other guitars so I feel it’s good to have varying nut widths, 2) I love that the understated aesthetic has less plastic - the rosette is simple and effective, and the wood edge looks fantastic, 3) this guitar is meant to be played a lot so I feel the soft case is fitting, and 3) a solid wood Taylor body made in the U.S.A. for under $2000.
I honestly wasn’t expecting to like this guitar this much. It’s perfect for bringing out.

Extraordinary Quality and Value
The new 314ce Studio is an extraordinary value with totally uncompromised quality. I've had a 510 and still have a 310ce, both of which have 1 11/16 necks, which I prefer. The torrefied top adds warmth, maturity, and character. This my first experience with V-class bracing and I love it. A wider and deeper sound with more projection. The rounded body edges and comfortable, and the slightly rounded fingerboard edges make for delightful fingering and chording. I've always described Taylors and the best playing guitars of them all (Bob's oft-repeated mantra). This one fits that description perfectly. Lovely fit and finish, setup to perfection, and the gloss finish on the top, back, and sides is stunning. Congratulations to Andy, Bob, and the entire team for making such an excellent model at this price.
