Decades of crafting Hawaiian koa guitars has only deepened our reverence for the treasured tonewood. The 50th Anniversary 924ce-K LTD is a showcase for our admiration of koa’s visual beauty and sonic charm. Its top, back and sides are crafted with gorgeously figured solid AA-grade koa. This versatile, gloss-finished cutaway Grand Auditorium delivers koa’s signature midrange and bright highs. As it’s played over time, players are rewarded with a richer, sweeter, more resonant tone. A slim, hand-friendly Taylor neck and radiused ebony armrest ensure a smooth, comfortable playing experience. V-Class interior voicing architecture levels up volume and sustain while keeping notes more in tune with each other along the entire neck. Graceful Ascension inlays in abalone and mother-of-pearl complement a paua rosette and edge trim. Exquisite Gotoh luxury gold tuners, gold-dotted ebony bridge pins and a special commemorative interior label round out the suite of 50th Anniversary appointments. This limited-edition model features ES2 electronics and ships in a Deluxe Hardshell Case.
In the U.S., the 50th Anniversary 924ce-K LTD is bundled with a limited-edition Circa 74 koa acoustic/vocal amp featuring a matching koa cabinet and modern-retro fabric grill cloth. Designed by Bob Taylor and his hand-picked team of tone aficionados, this Circa 74 amp complements the guitar’s visual and sonic attributes beautifully. It offers 150 watts of rich, warm sound through a 10-inch full-range speaker, 3-band EQ, Bluetooth connectivity, reverb, and compatibility with all major acoustic guitar pickups and vocal mics. The amp also includes an elegant koa stand.

New Favorite Guitar & Amp
This is my sixth Taylor guitar over the last 21 years and it is by far the best instrument I’ve ever owned. Also, my second Circa 74 amp, and while sonically the same as the mahogany Circa 74, the AA Koa Wood is visually stunning!
924ce-K - this is my first all Koa guitar, and why did I wait so long! It is a beautiful guitar. The online photos did not do it justice and the Koa really looks different in every light. The Ascension inlays are slightly larger than those on my other 914 and the Abalone really does have a slight pink tint. I had always heard that Koa takes time to open up and develop its bottom end, but this guitar sounds fantastic right out of the box and I can only imagine what it will sound like in four or five years.
Lots of sustain and overtones, similar to a mahogany guitar, but much brighter. Relatively lightweight, and perfectly set up right out of the box.
The gold engraved tuning keys seemed like overkill at first, but I’m getting used to them. I still think that Ebony buttons would’ve looked better with the Ebony trim and purfling, and I may change that at some point in the future. Another thing I would have done differently is to put in the builders edition armrest radius. I have a 914 builders and really enjoy that armrest more than the very slight bezel on this guitar. In fact, I think all new Taylor’s should have the builders edition armrest!
If I were to nitpick anything, it would be the finish applied to the top of the guitar. I’m the only owner and it was never displayed on a showroom floor, so I’m the only one who has handled it since it left the factory. There are two pencil tip sized indentations on the soundboard near the rosette, and it looks like they are under the finish. Almost like it was dinged before the finish was sprayed. Also, on the lower treble side of the top, it looks like the finish was applied very, very thinly as you can see the woodgrain coming through it. I’ve seen older Taylor’s where the finish sinks in after 20 years, but never on a new guitar. I also bought a 2024 builders edition this year with zero finish issues. That being said, I wouldn’t change a thing because it sounds so fantastic! This 50th anniversary guitar and amp combo are keepers, and anybody who snags one will be very lucky indeed!
