Our scaled-down GT acoustic body shape has impressed players with its blend of portability, playability and solid-wood tone. Made in America with Indian rosewood back and sides plus a Sitka spruce top, the 811e adds a superstar tonewood combination to the GT family, serving up warm lows, pristine trebles and a slight scoop in the midrange—perfect for playing with vocals or other musicians. Inside, our C-Class bracing adds more volume and sustain to give this smaller model a full-size sonic punch. Appointed with elegant details such as an abalone rosette and Element fretboard inlays, the 811e also includes ES2 electronics and ships with a lightweight, super-durable AeroCase.

Taylor GT
Compact yet gifted with a bold voice, the GT’s scaled-down frame offers surprising tonal power and texture.
Are there any guitars in the GT or this smaller sized line that doesn't have a pickup? Unfortunately, I just can't make the ES-2 work for me compared to other options.

Best guitar I've ever owned. . .

Just got it home. I've only been playing my GT811e for a day now. It's easily the best built, best sounding, and easiest to play guitar I've ever owned. It's my first time owning an 800 series anything, so please pardon my gushing. The response and resonance is wonderful. Ebony fretboard feels great. The neck feels so solid, sturdy, and smooth - always a Taylor signifier imo. It's the kind of guitar that makes you want to rush home from work and play it til bedtime - if you haven't already snuck it into the office that is. Thank you to whoever the guys/gals were who put this one together. I feel like I owe them a second life, second chance at guitar playing now. Amazing work.

Impressive sound and sustain for such a small guitar (I can compare it with my GA 314CE). Very easy to play for all kind of music : fingerpicking and strumming as well. Beautiful instrument, very well crafted and the aerocase really adds value when you are travelling (light!!).

All the appointments of the 800 series in a smaller, compact guitar. Sweet sounding. Even though I have a GS mini (or 2), I consider them campfire or travel guitars for rugged destinations. This is my new "travel" guitar for trips where I will be away from home more than a week in nice locations. Would like to see higher end tuning knobs on it, but minor point in the big picture. Fabulous compact guitar.

It was great to meet Eric Sakimoto. Fortunate for me that he listened to what I was looking for, let me try many different models and, BINGO, there it was. Eric had full knowledge of your product. It was an exceptional morning and now I am enjoying learning to play again on the nicest guitar I have ever owned. Thank you Taylor and Eric!

What comes from love to music and a lot of building magic!

I took two full days to choose the acoustic guitar. From 50 guitars I tried on the first day, i narrowed the choice to 5 guitars. The next day I came back to the shop with „fresh ears“ and tried those 5. it was clear very fast, that Taylor GT 811e was the one that I had a magical connection with. Although it was way above my planned budget, I purchased it. Luckily! I am now even more thrilled to have made that decision. This instrument has an incredible combination of tone, playability, quality and it looks stunning on top of that. I wouldn’t change any single single detail on it. The tone has a special kind of warmth, very balanced and musical. At the same time, the instrument reacts unbelievably well to the dynamics of my playing and is really inspiring for me. Special thanks to Taylor and it’s builders for creating something out of woods, metal and some plastics, that warms my soul every time I have it in my hands. There must be quite some love and magic!

Bad story

Each time the sound reminds me of the events that occurred following the purchase and which I believe are known to you. I remain saddened by these and have lost all faith in the Taylor brand. Since the last year I'm not even working as I should and it was a sacrifice to buy it. I will no longer buy Taylor guitars and I will sell this Gt812e as soon as I can.
Regards.

Hi Enrico,
Sorry to hear you were unhappy with the price you negotiated/paid at your local dealer. We can't get involved with dealer transactions but thanks for making us aware.

Beautiful instrument with wonderful tone. Use it for person pleasure and replaced a 1958 Gibson acoustic which had developed a twang. Short neck makes it difficult to use capo on 8,9 frets for Beatles songs. Wonderful feel. Have recommended similar model to friends.

Extremely playable with ambiance typically found in a much larger package

As an existing Grand Auditorium owner, I was looking for that "great Taylor sound" in a smaller profile instrument. I found it with the GT 811e. I am an average sized person, and the body depth, width, and length made it easier for me to stand and play for long periods. The shorter scale length perfectly suited any song I wanted to perform as a solo guitarist, but the tighter frets made it difficult (even with my smaller hands) to use a capo higher than the 5th fret. I fell in love with the rosewood/spruce combo, which mimicked larger Taylors, and I found it more resonant than the ash, mahogany, or walnut tone wood variations of the GTe. I immediately adored the fit/feel of the GT body style - if you can find the tone that you crave in the available wood types, it's a no-regret purchase that will keep you smiling.
Love my 811e!

Love the GTe 811. Meets all my expectations and more. Looking forward to future GTe models: 721, 511??
