Built on the comfortable, versatile foundation of our Grand Auditorium body shape, this 300 Series 12-string acoustic-electric guitar serves up a rich octave voice that adapts beautifully across styles and genres. Back and sides of solid sapele paired with a Sitka spruce top yield a bold midrange character with minimal overtones, maintaining clarity along with the double-course sound while our V-Class bracing adds more volume, longer sustain and improved harmony all the way up the neck. Players are sure to appreciate the slender, easy-playing neck, which offers relaxed fretting across the entire tonal spectrum. This model features sleek black binding, a Venetian cutaway, Gemstone fretboard inlays, a firestripe pickguard and a gloss-finished top with a satin finish for the back and sides.

I’ve been thinking about a Taylor 12 string but I’m a bit put off by the way the strings anchor at the bridge (two strings for one hole and bridge pin)  - looks like the ball ends won’t sit well and pull against the bridge plate unevenly ?

Ian Harry

Best answer Josh M. Taylor Guitars staff

On our 12-strings, the shared bridge pin design is something we’ve used for quite some time now, and has been proven to work really well. The ball ends anchor just as securely as they would with individual holes.

The advantage to this design is actually tonal — by sharing a hole, each string maintains the same break angle off the saddle, whether it's an octave string or a fundamental. This consistency contributes to the guitar’s exceptional sustain, clarity, and projection across all 12 strings.

If you decide to go with a Taylor 12-string, we think you'll be really pleased with how it performs — both acoustically and structurally.

Taylor 354ce - Found my ideal 12 string at last !!

5 out of 5 stars Ian H.

Wonderful !
I’d been on the search for a nice manageable 12 string for ages most of the ones I’d seen (new or old) were suffering the 12 string problem bulging tops or heading towards a neck reset the last point being what led me to Taylor’s with the neck bolt on shim neck design.

I am a retired tech and so know the downfall of steaming out old fashioned necks !

The single hole for two strings is more of a ‘faff’ trying to get the ball ends to sit nicely and the pair of strings to come out from the bridge nice and neatly, even when tuning up they were still settling them selves in (I did keep checking one ball end wasn’t sitting on the other and so on but it’s tricky to avoid and see properly with the pickup in the way) …

I guess that’s the payoff for the even string break angle and the V bracing and it’s well worth it for this fabulous guitar !

Maybe Daddario will make a special 12 string set of strings with one ball per course (pair) ??? Or Taylor will update the change your strings video?

The other thing that attracted me to this guitar was the nut width I do like to finger pick and found sone other makers not offering the very comfortable 1 7/8 nut width (please Taylor don’t change that)

At the end of the day think of all the manufacturers (I’ve probably tried them all) and I don’t believe you’ll find a better playing future proofed 12 string!

I’m very fussy and very happy !

Nice wide & playable neck

5 out of 5 stars BonHagar

From a 64yr old arthritic home and semi-pro player (30 or more live shows a year) that works with Reaper DAW, I needed a 12 with a wide neck. Strange yeah but, most guitars are engineered for a post WWII person and most people today are larger, bigger people. It’s like an 1800’s house’s spaces compared to a 2020 house. People are bigger & many of us need the wider string spacing. It comes w/10’s thru 47 but my arthritic hands are going to change those to 9’s - whatever the gauge ends up being. I bought this also because of the interior bracing. Having owned both a slotted Martin 12 & a Guild jumbo 12, I loved both until the tops started to give way. I want a 12 that can handle standard & alt tunings and not pull itself apart over time. So far with the Taylor, so good. The Guild I bought new & within 3-5 years, the top was pulling up making action difficult to keep playable. Shouldn’t happen on a premium guitar. Especially their flagship model.
The tone of the 354ce is very nice & even, no dead spots, and the action is about right for just outta the case. It’s also has a surprisingly percussive edge to the tone & that’s a good thing. It’s barely been a week and I haven’t gotten tired of this thing at all. Quite happy as long as the top stays in its place.
