Why is this model so much less expensive than the 414ce standard model?
The 414ce Studio is built to deliver great performance at a more accessible price point. By utilizing both our U.S. factory and our Tecate, Mexico factory (just 45 minutes away), we’re able to produce this model very efficiently. The Studio version also comes with a gig bag instead of a deluxe hardshell case, and its chamfered body edges helps save on the labor typically involved in slotting and installing binding. Altogether, these design choices allow us to offer the 414ce Studio at a much more competitive price, while still delivering the quality and playability you expect from Taylor.

Taylor branded nickel. 18:1.
Where is this made?
The neck is crafted in our Tecate, Mexico, factory, while the body is produced in our El Cajon, California, facility. The entire guitar is then finished and assembled in our Tecate factory.

Amazed - really satisfied by the “studio” 414ce
Basically, I love this guitar. Had it for about four months now.
I went in looking for a 2– or 314ce to replace another Taylor that had unfortunately been stolen, but this one really outplay them. I don’t really need the ornamentation on the body of the tradition 414ce version, beautiful though it is, and the sound on the “studio” is still out-of-this-world clear and whole. So the “studio“ option (I got the light top, not the SEB, but they sounded exactly the same) was really the right choice for me.
I’m mostly a strummer, or an arpeggiated picker, and I plug-in whenever possible. Predominantly leading worship at church, and I have been blown away (and our sound guys too!) by how beautifully this guitar plays in the mix with a band, and also just when I am by myself.
Honestly, I can’t hardly walk by it sitting on it stand in my music room, and not want to pick it up and play because it just sounds so wonderful!
