Overview

50th Anniversary 414ce Special Edition

Typically reserved for our highest-end guitars, the rosewood/redwood tonewood pairing joins our family 400 Series guitars for the first time in the 50th Anniversary 414ce Special Edition. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides and a sinker redwood top in a cutaway Grand Auditorium body serve up a blend of rich lows, sparkling chime-like trebles and lush overtones. Sourced from old growth logs submerged for decades in Northern California riverbeds, sinker redwood offers cedar-like warmth and remarkable touch sensitivity. Tone-enhancing V-Class bracing dials up extra volume and sustain while keeping notes more in tune with each other all the way up the neck. The fretboard and peghead are inlaid with an elegant Engraved Victorian design. Grained ivoroid binding on the gloss-finished body offers a stark visual contrast to its tobacco Shaded Edgeburst top treatment and firestripe faux-tortoise pickguard. Like other 50th Anniversary guitars, this model boasts gold tuners and gold-dotted ebony bridge pins. It’s outfitted with an onboard ES2 pickup and ships in a deluxe hard shell case.

Features

All-Purpose Tone, Elegantly Appointed

This versatile special-edition Grand Auditorium guitar delivers rich, balanced sound complemented by beautiful visual aesthetics.

Grand Auditorium

Our flagship shape offers comfort and cross-genre utility, with a clear, balanced tone suited for both fingerstyle and strumming.

Indian Rosewood

The tonewood superstar. Popular, traditional, and versatile, Bob Taylor puts Indian rosewood among the greatest tonewoods ever.

Sinker Redwood

Tight grain structure and cross-grain stiffness produce a bold and brilliant response with warm overtones. Think cedar on steroids.

Expression System® 2

The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.

Venetian Cutaway

The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the body.

V-Class Bracing

Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns.

Undeniable Connection

5 out of 5 stars Adrian L.

I connected with this guitar immediately. My mind was set on a different brand (which are truly amazing guitars) but unexpectedly fell in love with this instrument from the first chord. The feel. The sound. The desire to want to play it.

The Taylor team has built something very very special with this instrument. Thank you to everyone at Taylor for what you do. From a working musician. Thank you. I’m about to put it to work and am truly excited to make music and memories with this beautiful guitar. This is what music is about. Real connection, feeling, and passion. Which are all undeniably a part of this instrument. Again, thank you.

amazing sound and playability

5 out of 5 stars Busyguy

This is a remarkable acoustic electric guitar which continuously amazes me as to its playability and sound quality. I am a senior citizen now trying to recapture my guitar skills from when I played in a band while in my late teens. Even though I’m constantly reminded that getting back to playing the guitar after not playing for decades, isn’t going to be like “riding a bike”, this guitar makes the journey back extremely entertaining in that it sounds and plays flawlessly. The guitar is set up from the factory low enough for me to get right back to barre chords and attempt finger picking. Previously, I would only attempt bar chords on an electric guitar. Even though the strings are comfortably low, there is no buzzing. I plug this guitar into my amp and it sounds amazing simply using the onboard electronics. This guitar is pricey, but if you’re willing to work at honing your skills, it’s well worth it! The case is very solid, providing solid protection for the guitar.

Tonewood Paradise

5 out of 5 stars Mike S.

I tried out a 414ce 50th Anniversary Special Edition at Guitar Center. The mix of warm lows and bright highs was really outstanding. I left regretting not buying it. That weekend I came back and it was still there. I had to buy it. What a wonderful guitar to own. The sinker redwood top makes all the difference in tone, and the ebony fretboard is very smooth for fast solos.

It can speak directly to your soul if you let it.

5 out of 5 stars McTkRanch

Walked into a local guitar store to buy tome incidental item. Line was long so I meandered into the humidor room. I noticed a 50th Anniversary 414ce. I played it and immediately knew I had something very special in my hands. The sound resonated through my soul and I walked out with my third Taylor guitar.
