Baby Mahogany (BT2)
The Baby Taylor has long been a gateway for new learners into the world of the acoustic guitar, and with the all-mahogany BT2, players now have another option in both look and sound. A solid top gives this three-quarter-scale guitar a surprising sonic punch for its size, and the slim, comfortable neck makes it easier to hold down the strings to form notes and chords. An ideal beginner's or kid's guitar but also great for experienced players who want a decent-sounding travel guitar, the BT2 is a fun-sized blend of musical excitement and utility. It includes a soft gig bag.

No, that won't work well. Please check our Academy 12e Nylon for a great entry level nylon string.

Nut = 1 7/16”. Saddle = 2-1/8"
Is it normal for the back of a baby BT2e to be bowed?
Yes. That radius is built in by design.
Is there a size difference between the BT2 and the BT2E?
No. All baby Taylors have the same dimensions. The "E" just signifies that model is equipped with factory installed electronics.

How durable and weather resistant is the Baby BT1?
For all of our guitars, we recommend keeping them stored between 455 and 55% Rh when not in use. If it is too hot, cold, or wet for you, it is for the guitar as well.
What are the best strings to use on the baby Taylor ?
We install and recommend Light gauge 12-53.
What's the neck on this? Description says maple, but the pics show mahogany or sapele
The necks are currently made from maple, new pics are in the works!
What are the dimensions of the BT2 gig bag when the guitar is inside?
The measurements are 36" long, 13 ½” at the widest point on the lower bout and 5” deep at the lower bout.
How would you describe the back of neck shape ? rounded ? flat ? C shaped ?
Our standard carve which is C shaped.
What is the differences between BT1 & BT 2 ?
BT1 has a spruce top, BT2 has a mahogany top.
How to change the battery on a Baby Taylor Mahogany (BT2e)?
There have been 2 ESB systems. The batteries are either mounted in a little clip on the face of the preamp, or the control panel lifts to access the 9v battery.

Sorry, the 1 11/16" nut width that comes standard is the only size available.
Do you offer a hard case instead of the gig bag?
No, we don't offer hard cases for these models. However, SKB Cases makes a hard case for the Babys.
Is the Baby Taylor guitar for adults or kids only?
Both. The dimensions of the guitar are great for kids, but it's a great travel-friendly guitar for anyone. It's also used by players who want a different guitar "voice" to use in a recording environment.
Can I get one with a cutaway?
Sorry, they're not available with a cutaway.
Will this fit in an airplane overhead compartment?
The guitar will fit in most overhead compartments, but you may want to check with your airline for their rules about stowing something that's not the dimensions of a rollerboard-type suitcase. Also, if you do place it in the overhead compartment, you'll want to make sure other passengers don't place baggage on top of the guitar.
Does this guitar come with steel strings or nylon strings?
All Baby and Big Baby models are built for steel strings. You can always replace the factory strings with a lighter gauge to make playing easier on your hands. GW

Baby Taylor action better than little Martin played them both at Guitar Center went home with the tailor
I am a Martin guy but I wanted a travel guitar and the action was better on the Taylor than the little Martin. It's nice to have a Taylor hanging on my wall now I always wanted one. I've been playing James Taylor songs all weekend on it having a great time sounds great

Great guitar in a little package
I am so happy with my purchase. Such big sound from a little package: bell like chime, . I bought it to take on the road on motorcycle trips and it is perfect. But it’s also great for someone like me who has bad arthritis in their hands who can no longer play full sized Dreadnaught acoustic guitars. Taylor should include this in the language used to describe the types of users that this guitar would appeal to.

Great little travel guitar.
I bought this bt-2 mahogany as a travel guitar. I also have a 614ce that I use on stage. The baby has a surprisingly good sound. It is very light weight compared to the 614 ce. It doesn't have quite the deep sound as the 614, but I am very satisfied with this guitar. This gives me a quick guitar to pick up and use as we travel in our big rig rv and to practice.

It’s all about what you need
Small guitars aren’t just for kids - they are also for some of us adults who aren’t that tall and/or want a shorter scale. Trouble is many of us who have been playing on very good guitars for very many years have to steel ourselves for a smaller sound. That said, I am very very happy I bought this guitar. It has a nice wood tone and is the easiest guitar to play ever, both the short scale and the feel of the neck/action. Even though it may not have the deep bass & full sound of my $4k guitar, that guitar rarely leaves its case these days. Instead 5 stars for this one because I’m playing way more since this this little guy came home with me and it does sound like a real guitar

Great small guitar
Due to a torn rotator cuff I had trouble playing a full-size guitar and almost gave up entirely, but the BT was just the thing I needed! For a small guitar it sounds great, stays in tune, and looks good too. I’m really happy that I bought one.
