Sorry, no. This guitar will not play properly with Nylon strings. This is exclusively a steel string model. Where’s it made?
This model is made in our Tecate, Mexico factory.
Is the neck solid wood? The Little Martin at a similar price point lists laminate woods in their neck specs. I don't want to start the whole Martin/Taylor debate (I own both), but I don't want a layered neck and am trying to decide between Little Martin and Baby Taylor.
All of our necks are all solid, real wood.
How do I specify lefty?
This model is not available left-handed from our website. It would need to be purchased or ordered from an authorized retailer.

All BT models are 33-3/4" in length. The GS mini is 35-5/8".
is ES go easy to install on a BT1?
ES Go is only for use on the GS Minis.

Yes, pickguards can be purchased separately on our web store and are easy to install, just peel and stick.
Can I special order one with a different nut width?
Sorry, the 1 11/16" nut width that comes standard is the only size available.
Do you offer a hard case instead of the gig bag?
No, we don't offer hard cases for these models. However, SKB Cases makes a hard case for the Babys.
Can I get one with a cutaway?
Sorry, they're not available with a cutaway.
Is the Baby Taylor guitar for adults or kids only?
Both. The dimensions of the guitar are great for kids, but it's a great travel-friendly guitar for anyone. It's also used by players who want a different guitar "voice" to use in a recording environment.
Will this fit in an airplane overhead compartment?
The guitar will fit in most overhead compartments, but you may want to check with your airline for their rules about stowing something that's not the dimensions of a rollerboard-type suitcase. Also, if you do place it in the overhead compartment, you'll want to make sure other passengers don't place baggage on top of the guitar.
Does this guitar come with steel strings or nylon strings?
All Baby and Big Baby models are built for steel strings. You can always replace the factory strings with a lighter gauge to make playing easier on your hands. GW

This guitar is helping me improve my playing !
I really do love this guitar. I am further along than a beginner, but I don't play in public. It is purely for enjoyment and it challenges me to learn. This guitar is the perfect size for me. I own 5 guitars, and this is the one I pick up and play. I record on my phone and it sounds great. It stays in tune and is easy to play. I am hoping this guitar will help me reach the next level of playing. I do practice more often and for longer sessions.

I really do love this guitar. I own 5 guitars, and this one is the one I pick up and play. It is a perfect size for me and is comfortable standing or sitting. I am farther along than beginner, but still hesitate to play for others. This guitar may just take me to the next level. It stays in tune and plays easily. It sadly broke the Taylor Standards.
Well, Taylor did a switch on me. I was proud that ALL my guitars were U.S.A. made. From the Rickenbacker Lefty 12 string, to the Fender Strat, to the Ovation Elite 12 String Elite. My $2900 Taylor CE??? KOA TOP, (awesome look in competition with my Ric. And my resonators. So this Taylor Mini is made in Mexico and shows it. Mine is a lefty and on the body where it rest on my leg, it has a weird edge as if it was sawed barely. Jagged edge. And the bridge where the strings attach, both sides are pulled away. Just a bad thing that stinks. Could have should have been made in China.

Easy playability , Great Sound, Loud Voice, I originally Purchased on a Buy 1 get 1 Deal , last year , for my Daughter. She actually preferred my Academy 12e-n . So I took this little guy . My only regret is that it was not a BT1e if you make such a thing. If you do I would definitely Purchase one. I cannot stress enough how Easy, Fast , & Loud this Beautifully Sounding this little Guy plays. I would recommend the Baby Taylor (BT1) to anyone from novice to professional Player.

Baby Taylor compared to…
The baby Taylor is, of course, a great travel guitar, but it’s not just for travel. It can be for any situation where small size is desired and “proper” guitar stance isn’t as much of an issue. However, (here I go!) I admit to being spoiled by cutaways, and that would be nice to have, realizing increased costs, but it could be an option for those willing to pay a little more. And last, I have a small Crafter travel type guitar, and it is exemplary in size, style, and execution. Well, so is Taylor, but my Crafter does have a cutaway. Ha!

I bought this guitar to travel. It's mostly my daughter who uses it. The sound is just incredible for such a small guitar and the playability is excellent. It makes me want to try a "real" Taylor guitar

I think it is the best small guitar you can buy and a very very good value.
really nice easy playing guitar. it is very easy to take to small get together and camping trips. it has a good tone and a sound that is bigger than the guitar. it is a really fun guitar. stays in tune very well. the soft cas is easy to carry.

I am very happy with my Baby Taylor. I have not traveled anywhere since buying it, and have practiced on it just a little. I mostly practice on the Academy 10 I bought with it. It does not sound as rich and loud as the fullsize, but for travel and keeping in practice, it will do fine. I look forward to traveling this year with wife and dog and playing for others.

I love this little guy! He's been on many road trips & camping adventures with me. He'll also be accompanying me on an Alaskan adventure for 3 months very soon. This is the reason I got the Baby Taylor. I have multiple Taylor's but the Baby is the way to go for transportability & lightweightness.

Loving this little guitar. Got it for my daughter for Christmas. It’s the perfect size for her, sounds great, and is super playable. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d enjoy having a little guitar for playing in the living room. It only takes up about a space on the couch when you play it. Great little guitar.

Just a huge disappointment
It’s ok made, but the setup is awful. No care in rounding the frets, the thing rattles more than my Telecaster and it sounds über-thin. I returned it. Is the second one I tried and I won’t try again.

Sorry to hear this. Sounds like the guitars are not in proper humidity control at that shop. Sharp frets, fret buzz and thin sound are all signs of dryness. Hope you're able to try some others.
