The Baby Taylor helped launch an entire category of three-quarter-scale and travel-size acoustic guitars, and the original remains the standard for those seeking a portable instrument that can still produce rich acoustic tone. This model (BT1e) sports a solid spruce top that produces a punchy, clear tone that's perfect for solo practice sessions, working through songwriting ideas or even playing with friends. On-board ES-B electronics make it easy to plug in and play through an amp, and the slender, comfortable neck design provides a smooth feel for your fretting hand. Baby Taylor models ship with a lightweight gig bag.

High Action
Great sounding small guitar! However, as received the action is too high for fast, smooth chord changes above the third fret.

After two years, still disappointed
I bought this two years ago when I was laid up with foot surgery and couldn’t manage my full-size guitar from an incline position. From the beginning, the tuner was problematic and never picked up the lower strings. As time went on the Intonation on the neck became worse and worse. Although the octave Intonation was perfect, the intonation in the lower frets was way off. I just paid a guitar tech for the second time to do a complete set up and to restring it. Intonation is perfect again, at my expense. This instrument is part of a relatively large collection that gets played often, so I’m confident that the problems are not environmental factors on this end. None of my other instruments have this problem. I’m a 60-year-old player, and having a Taylor in my collection was one of my dreams. But I’m forever gun shy about buying another one. It has never been the Guitar I hoped it would be. Its small size is perfect because I do therapeutic music in healthcare settings, and it’s the perfect size for crowded hospital rooms. For that reason, I’ll keep getting set ups on it as long as I need to, but I’m pretty disappointed that for the first two years of owning this Guitar, it just wasn’t what I hoped it would be. It also irritates me that the pick up plug is in the end pin. You have to buy a right angle instrument line in order for it to work. It doesn’t work with most instrument stands.

Sorry to hear about the action moving, it does sound like an environmental issue. Smaller travel sized guitars tend to react to environmental changes faster than full size models. if you can stabilize the humidity where it's being stored, you won't need set ups so frequently. I bought this Taylor BT1 for my granddaughter and she Absolutely Loves it. Great sounding guitar and an awesome beginner guitar made with the best quaility
To play with this baby makes happy.
BT1e - just buy it
Brilliant tone quality, perfect for travelling with - in built tuner is a big plus (be careful though to turn off when tuned, the battery depletes quite quickly) and the gig bag is really robust. My most used guitar, oh and it’s a Taylor :)
