Overview

Builder's Edition 717e WHB

The Builder's Edition 717e WHB takes Taylor into new musical territory with a seasoned tone and classic vibes. Indian rosewood and torrefied Sitka spruce pair up to produce a richly textured acoustic response, generating clear trebles and clear low-end power. V-Class bracing and innovative design touches help eliminate the "woofiness" that often comes with dreadnought guitars, making this a great option for recording purposes. The torrefied top adds some played-in sweetness right out of the box, and chamfered body edges and compound neck carve make for a pleasingly accommodating experience. This model sports a Wild Honey Burst color treatment with its Silent Satin finish, and includes ES2 electronics and a hardshell case.

Features

Grand Pacific

A versatile workhorse, this round-shoulder take on the classic dreadnought body yields clear low-end power and a warm, blended voice.

Indian Rosewood

Deep lows, clear trebles and a slight scoop in the midrange. Rich overtone response with a sparkling, high-fidelity character.

Torrefied Spruce

Treated with our special roasting process, torrefied spruce tops deliver all the clarity, balance and projection you’d expect from a traditional spruce top with an extra dash of warmth and played-in depth.

Expression System® 2

The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.

V-Class Bracing

Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns.

Best Bang For The Buck

5 out of 5 stars Michael B.

I’ve had five different Taylor guitars, including more expensive ones and this is the one I pick up 80% of the time. It has such a rich/warm tone and feels incredible to play. For the price point I feel like it is very comparable to a $6000 Taylor. I LOVE the Grand Pacific shape. It really pushes you into that dreadnought class without feeling like you’re handling something too big. Still playful but pack a lot of punch! Great for strumming and finger style. The Builder Edition comforts have become a must have for me.

Holy Crap!

5 out of 5 stars Toco La Guitarra

Hands down, THE best sounding guitar I have ever played. When shopping for acoustics, I play several of the exact same guitar until I find one I connect with bc they all sound and feel different. I only had to pickup one of these and I immediately knew I was gonna buy it. So I did haha.

This is the Guitar I've Been Looking For

5 out of 5 stars RevRich72

This is the guitar I've been looking for: balanced across the tonal spectrum, more mellow than bright, sounds great fingerstyle, strummed, and flatpicked. I also like the understated elegance of the honeyburst top. Two things to note: I had to back off on my attack as it responds better to a softer touch. Also: players with smaller hands may find the longer scale a stretch.

Dreadnought with Taylor difference!

4 out of 5 stars Frederick D.

A traditionalist in background, growing up with dreadnaughts and spruce/rosewood pairing, the 717e was an obvious choice and the pre-owned example I have acquired has not disappointed. It has a wonderfully full and rounded sound with just sufficient scoop in which vocals can fit, just what one comes to expect from this wood pairing. Comfort and playability are excellent, typical of Taylor guitars. Volume unplugged was not as great as I expected comparing it with my 714ce, but never the less a full, rich, satisfying voice. A great dreadnaught based guitar with Taylor difference.

Love at first sight

5 out of 5 stars J HUGHES

I first saw this online and started watching videos and looking at the Taylor website. Next came a trip to Pied Piper in Charleston during lunch and to my surprise there was one hanging on the wall.
1 the aesthetics caught my eye immediately. Artwork in the highest form. Beautifully crafted. The feel is sumptuous to the touch and balanced in the hand. Then comes the strum, the voice of this guitar is very articulate and on point with sustain for days! Grabbing a pick she booms beautifully, fingerstyle she whispers eloquently! This fit sitting or standing is second nature. i discovered I was in love!
