An Instrument That Inspires Me Every Day
When I purchased my Taylor 214ce K DLX, I expected a very good guitar. What I did not expect was how much it would inspire me every time I picked it up.
From the very first notes, I was impressed by its clarity, balance, sustain, and responsiveness. As a fingerstyle player, I appreciate an instrument that can faithfully capture every detail of my playing, and this guitar does exactly that. The notes are articulate, the bass is warm and controlled, and the overall tonal balance is exceptional.
What impressed me most is how confidently this guitar stands alongside instruments that cost considerably more. Over the years, I have played many excellent acoustic guitars, yet I often found myself preferring the tone, feel, and overall playing experience of my 214ce K DLX. Its voice is rich, expressive, and beautifully balanced, making it equally enjoyable for both fingerstyle playing and strumming.
The craftsmanship is outstanding, the playability is effortless, and the ES2 electronics reproduce the guitar’s natural character beautifully when amplified. Every detail reflects the care and attention that Taylor puts into its instruments.
In my opinion, the 214ce K DLX represents exceptional value for money. It delivers a level of sound quality, comfort, and consistency that exceeds expectations and rivals many guitars in higher price ranges.
After all these years of playing, this is one of the few guitars that continues to make me smile every time I pick it up. It has become my favorite acoustic guitar and a constant source of inspiration.
Thank you, Taylor, for building such a wonderful instrument.

A beautiful looking and sounding guitar.
Of greater importance is the sound, and this was somewhat surprising, as after playing much higher end models costing twice as much, and more, this really held its own. However, sound is personal as we all may look for or desire something different. For me, as a fingerstyle guitarist, the balance of lows, mids and highs is just right. There's a purity of tone that I appreciate.
As for playability, and yes the neck, all I can say is that this makes me want to play more and that says a lot about this guitar. So far I've stuck with the included 12 gauge but will try out the 11 gauge soon. I should mention I have not tried to amplify yet but will soon.
The headstock is great and I love the tuning heads, they are well made and are very smooth. Very important point I think. Another thing that impressed me greatly was that out of the box so to speak, the action was perfect. Distance equal all across the fetboard. Very nice.
If one is wanting a Taylor, by all means try as many models as possible, but for a fingerstyle player, I think you will discover that this model is a very happy medium. It is a superb guitar.
