No, this is purpose-built for the neck and body to connect at the 12th fret. This makes for a compact feel that's rare in a 12-string guitar. The tone that results from the placement of the bridge in the guitar's lower bout is advantageous as well.
What makes a 12-fret guitar different?
A 12-fret guitar makes for a more compact playing framework. It combines the lap-friendly Grand Concert body with the slightly condensed fret spacing of the 24-7/8" scale length and the shorter 12-fret-to-the-neck construction. This makes a slinkier "handfeel" and easier fretting as you move up the fretboard. There's a surprising amount of tonal power and midrange warmth from the bridge sitting back a little farther on the lower bout. Also, the slotted headstock creates a more acute string angle over the nut. Because this puts a little more downward pressure on the nut, it'll feel a little more precise to your fretting hand. Notes won't bend quite as easily closer to the nut.

The Grand Concert is considered a small-body guitar. It has an articulate voice with top-end chime and controlled overtones. Its intimate size is lap/couch friendly. Big Deep Tone for Days!
Deep tone and huge sound projection! I own about 30 or so guitars and basses, some high end, most just good players. This one is stunning! It was a bit of an impulse buy as I was not shopping for a guitar that day, I picked it up to compare the tone to a "lesser" priced guitar and my wife insisted that we needed to buy this guitar. The sound just captured her attention. (Mine too)! I've always liked the Taylor line and now I can say I own one of the purest sounding guitars out there. It does come set up just a bit high for my style, but I can see finger-pickers loving this set up. I'll just enjoy getting to know it.

Phenomenal Guitar
I can't believe how much I love this guitar...I'd always been wary of mahogany body instruments, but the second I strummed this, it just felt like a localized warmth of tone wash over me...it's just it's own wonderful thing...doesn't mean I don't love spruce/rosewood guitars too, it just means this thing has a warmth and depth in the mid-range I've never heard before. It feels already fully broken in since the second I took it off the wall. The satin finish looks incredible, the playability is 10/10 (as with just about all Taylors), the feel of the neck is awesome as usual....definitely recommend you try one out; I was stunned to say the least, and had to have it...
And to all those "worried" about it not projecting like a spruce top, If you're playing live it's plugged in of course, and in a studio with a mic close on it, it's already going to be providing you a different tonal character. So spend some time with this and you'll realize it's not about something "missing," it's more about what this does differently...

Vibration, buzz sounds at bridge/soundhole area.
I really want to love this guitar. It plays wonderfully and looks amazing. It has a vibration sound that comes alive when the e, b ,g strings are played at times and random. A lot of times when the e and b are played open. I have chased down a wood chip that was left from the factory that I thought was it, I removed that wood chip. It was at the pickup area, not the problem. One of the tuning pegs was loose, I tighted all 6 small Phillips screws. That helped some. There was also a loose body clip toward the volume tone controls, fixed that as well. 3 issues on a new guitar. But I still have these random vibration sounds that come from the bridge area. I've never had any guitar ever make these vibration sounds from the bridge. This is not fret buzz. I've taken the battery and battery cartridge out, still same noise when it does it. Im not happy with this expensive of a Taylor doing this.

Sweet lows.
Large deep bough. My biggest guitar to date. Very Deep mellow tone. Action a bit too high for pickin’ but after set up —Perfect. Feels like butter! Projects with a boom! Also my loudest guitar unplugged.

A Joy to Play
I have a 1975 Guild D25m (mahogany) that I love, and several other guitars. I was looking for something higher end with a cut out. Playing several guitars over a couple months, I went with the 324ce. What a wonderful guitar. The neck feels just right. There was another Taylor that I had tried whose look I liked a tiny bit more, with a little brighter sound, so more of a contrast to my mahogany Guild. But the warmth, rich bass, and the playability of the 324ce for me were the deciding factors. It is a beautiful guitar in every way.

My “lifer” guitar
Being completely transparent, I don’t have a ton of experience with a lot of acoustic guitars and I am still a beginner/intermediate player. I am 53 and I decided to reward myself with a “lifer” guitar because I have stuck with learning and practicing seriously for 2 years- and I am forever addicted. I was nervous because it is the most expensive ‘non-essential’ thing I’ve ever purchased. I also wasn’t sure about the all mahogany since I am not a tone specialist at all, but this is what I discovered: I don’t deserve this guitar! It is spectacular. The quality is amazing and the tone it produces is sublime. I listened to a ton of videos and I was worried about it being too “warm” or not bright enough, but the tone is pure audio pleasure. It is so comfortable to play, and just feels…right. I shouldn’t let aesthetics sway me since it is an instrument for making sound, but it is beautiful as well. If you are ready for the good stuff, I couldn’t recommend it more!

Love the guitar, less happy with Expression System® 2 Electronics
The guitar sounds and is visually beautiful. The acoustic (not amplified) tone is beautiful and the guitar is easy and very enjoyable to play. The neck feels and plays great.
My only complaint is that use of the Expression System® 2 Electronics with three different amplifiers produces high pitched (frequency) ringing tones when the G, B and high E strings are played. I have tried adjusting the pickup screw tension but with no success. I have been unable to find a remedy for this.

I absolutely love this guitar. After countless visits to local guitar stores to try guitars in the $1000-2500 price range from every vendor available, this guitar stood out in the price range as being the best. The mahogany top has a beautiful look and even more beautiful sound with nice balance between the low and high notes and a mellow tone with the elixir strings. I found the other Taylor’s in the price range too bright for my personal taste but this was a perfect combination of Taylor’s playability with a tone I loved. I would recommend this guitar every time. I did not have a chance to try the builders edition as it was slightly out of my range, but if you can afford the extra price it should be a great option as well.

Since I started playing in 2010, I was told, "...worship leaders play Taylor's." I started off with another popular brand, and have bought and owned many of them. I tried a couple others and they were good too. When I finally pulled the trigger and got the 324ce, after having owned dozens of other guitars from beginner to pro-level, what is clear to me is that the 3+ series of Taylor's, you get a pro-level instrument in every way. Feel, finish, electronics, case, warranty, and most importantly, tone. I'm well pleased with the unplugged tone -- even with my strings of choice. The plugged in tone is good enough that I don't have to use my LR Baggs Voiceprint to make it sound good enough. I do wish the output from the jack were as hot as my other guitars, but aside from that, it is the perfect guitar for me.

Love my 324ce with tasmanian blackwood. Excellent strummer, highs aren't harsh like on some guitars. Acoustically it can get lost in a band setting, but plugged in sits nicely in the mix. Found I had to turn down the high knob on the ES2 pickup and EQ some high frequencies out as well out to get a nice sound that wasn't too bright or harsh

Have been looking to upgrade my acoustic for some time now. Tried a bunch of different guitars across all the top brands. Immediately fell in love with the feel and sound of this all mahogany guitar and ordered one through a local shop. Arrived in perfect condition. No setup adjustments needed. Action is perfect, feels great in my hands and the sound is both mellow and robust. Absolutely love this guitar.

My McDreamy Taylor 324ce
So I had a @#$% with laminated back and sides for 20 years but bought a Taylor 455ce 12-string in 2009. And ever since I wanted a 6-string from Taylor too. So finally I bought me a solid 324ce after much consideration, pondering over my wallet, countless reviews on YouTube and playing on this fine guitar in several shops. And I don't regret it a single day that I had me this guitar. It's just Dreamy with a big D. It's easy to play, has a big bass but also warm and springy high tones, and so much better midtones than my @#$%. I just love it, and never gonna lose it again.

This guitar is wonderful.
Very easy to handle.
The solid mahogany top and back and side with the Taylor construction, the guitar offers a balanced sound with nice highs and nice lows.
I am happy with my 324 ce.
