Watch VideoCrafted with all-solid tonewoods, striking appointments and an easy-playing Taylor neck, the new 414ce Studio offers pro-quality tone and feel at an appealing price for the budget-minded player. This model features back and sides of solid Indian rosewood paired with a torrefied Sitka spruce top, voiced with our V-Class bracing. It adds up to a high-fidelity sound with clear, bell-like trebles, a robust low-end response and rich harmonic texture, plus an added dash of warmth from our proprietary roasting process for the spruce top. With the Grand Auditorium body shape, players can expect a highly adaptable tone that performs well across virtually all genres and playing styles, while the slender Taylor neck ensures relaxed fretting across the frequency spectrum. It includes ES2 electronics for rich, clear plugged-in sound and ships with a resilient structured gig bag for storage and transportation.
Features
Lush, Warm Tone at an Accessible Price
With solid rosewood and spruce and versatile Grand Auditorium body, the 414ce Studio offers a time-honored tonewood pairing at a great value for everyday players.
Grand Auditorium
Our flagship shape offers comfort and cross-genre utility, with a clear, balanced tone suited for both fingerstyle and strumming.
Indian Rosewood
The tonewood superstar. Popular, traditional, and versatile, Bob Taylor puts Indian rosewood among the greatest tonewoods ever.
Torrefied Spruce
Treated with our special roasting process, torrefied spruce tops deliver all the clarity, balance and projection you’d expect from a traditional spruce top with an extra dash of warmth and played-in depth.
Expression System® 2
The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.
Venetian Cutaway
The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the body.
V-Class Bracing
Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns.

Taylor 414ce Studio Special Edition – A First-Run Masterpiece
From the moment you strum the first chord, the Taylor 414ce Studio Special Edition reveals why it’s one of the most inspiring and sonically rich acoustic-electric guitars to emerge from Taylor’s El Cajon factory. This particular instrument, proudly bearing serial number 1212184011, is a rare first-run example — the 11th 414ce Studio ever produced — and it more than lives up to that legacy.
Crafted with a torrefied Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides, the guitar produces a shimmering, articulate high end, a bold low end, and an ultra-responsive midrange that makes fingerstyle playing feel like a conversation. Taylor’s V-Class bracing brings extraordinary sustain and perfect intonation, while the Expression System 2 pickup ensures that every nuance of its tone is faithfully translated in any live or studio setting.
The slimmer 1-11/16” nut width provides an incredibly comfortable neck profile, ideal for long playing sessions or for players who enjoy electric-like speed without sacrificing acoustic tone. The all-gloss natural finish over premium tonewoods not only enhances resonance but gives the guitar a stunning visual elegance that’s both understated and classic.
What sets this guitar even further apart is the inclusion of a Taylor Deluxe Brown Hardshell Case, which was not standard for this model. Whether by luck or factory intention, this case elevates its status from premium to collectible.
Whether you’re a recording artist, worship leader, or weekend player, the 414ce Studio Special Edition is a guitar that will exceed your expectations in every way — and this one, as one of the very first ever built, might just exceed everyone else’s too.
