Overview

With its warm sonic character and lush, blooming overtones, the rosewood/spruce tonewood combination is the perfect match for the Grand Pacific dreadnought body shape. In the 417e, that pairing serves up a seasoned, blended response with clear low-end power, pristine trebles and a slightly scooped midrange—perfect for everything from songwriting to ensemble play to recording. Our V-Class bracing design adds more volume and longer sustain, and the built-in ES2 electronics ensure clear, authentic tone whenever you need to plug in. Aesthetic details include a sunburst top finish and new Finial inlays. The 417e ships in a deluxe hardshell case.

417e-R -- chose this over a Martin HD-28 and here is why....

5 out of 5 stars Matt G.

Feb, 2025. I bought this a few weeks ago. Was between this and Martin HD-28. I already own a 314ce so love the Taylor neck. This is just as easy to play as my 314. While this does not 'boom' as much as the Martin, it comes with a more focused and articulate sound. I am not an expert musician by any stretch, but strumming and some basic flatpicking it is just a bit more versatile IMO that the Martin. And of course, visually, this a gorgeous guitar. oh.. and the ES2... just takes some practice and trial and error to find your sound, and it's included with the guitar and this was the final differentiator for me.

PS -- I called Taylor and they said they are discontinued this model, but will always service it under their warranty.

Long time Taylor-Martin player. So far good. Put Daddario 80/20. 11’s on it. A little dead at the sound hole. Only had it 5 days. Had to adjust the neck to get rid of the dreaded Taylor G string buzz. So damn pretty hate to take it out.

Old style looks. New style supports

Sounds great. Acoustic or plugged in. Looks like a piece of art. The case is worth looking at and with the humidity pads will be safe.
