Our cutaway maple/spruce Grand Concert has been revoiced to be richer, warmer and more complex, adding extra depth to the Grand Concert body’s natural clarity and top-end chime. Tone-enhancing strokes include a new back bracing profile, a torrefied (specially roasted) top that yields wonderfully aged tonal character, protein glues that optimize the tonal transfer, and an ultra-thin gloss finish to enhance the acoustic resonance. Together with a hand-friendly short-scale neck, the 612ce sounds and plays like a dream. A hand-rubbed “Brown Sugar” stain on the back and sides gives maple’s striking figure a beautiful violin-hued appearance. Featured appointments include new grained ivoroid Wings fretboard inlays, an inlaid ebony backstrap, ebony binding with grained ivoroid purfling, an ebony/grained ivoroid rosette, and a stained maple pickguard, with Taylor’s stage-ready Expression System® 2 pickup onboard.

Please compare the K24CE vs the 612CE on tone, volume and ease of play (I’m old!) I currently have a 2017 K24CE that lacks volume relative to my other guitars. Can you assist?
Set up specs are the same so they'll all play equally great! Tonally, the biggest difference is going from a hardwood Koa top to a spruce top on the 612ce which gives you a greater frequency response without compression but there's more to consider. My old 600 has an amber stain instead of brown. Can I order one in a different color?
No, there are no color options on this model.
Do guitars in the 600 series have real ebony fretboards and bridges?
Yes, all guitars in the 600 series have genuine West African Crelicam ebony fretboards and bridges.

What case do these come with?
All 600 series models ship in a deluxe brown hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.
The body wood looks brown on most of these, is it maple like 600's have been historically?
Yes, we still use maple for the back and sides but we started staining it brown in 2014 when the series was redesigned. The 618e is the exception with it's Antique Blonde finish treatment.
I like this guitar but could I get it with a Florentine cutaway?
Yes, a Florentine cutaway is an available option.
Could I get one made with a different top wood?
No, this model is only available with the torrefied Sitka spruce top.

Love the 612ce!
I recommend this guitar without reservation, period. The 612ce is extremely comfortable to play, string tension & height above frets is just right with the factory set-up, fit and finish are impeccable, in fact there is really nothing I would change on this guitar. The combination of spruce top with maple back and sides lends a bright, articulate tone to each note when playing the melody of a song, like flatpicking "Sleepwalk" (Santo & Johnny), fingerpicking "Mr. Sandman" (The Chordettes) or playing the main riff on "Black Dog" ( Led Zeppelin). Very versatile instrument.

My Taylor 612 has Made Me a Better Player...
They say that your sound and tone is in your fingertips regardless of the guitar. It's especially so with a maple instrument!
I've played for many years on many makes and models of guitar. Mostly Rosewood and Mahogany instruments. I bought my 612ce about a year ago as I started playing finger style more and more and hearing of Maples quick response and touch sensitivity. I've really found that to be the case with the 612. You truly get back what you put into this instrument. It's made me more aware of both of my hands and rewarded me for that. While they say Maple gives you less coloration to your tone than other woods, its transparency and directness have made me a better player. A more artistic player with a broader palette of tones at my fingertips. While my 612 is an amazing finger style guitar I happily found it to be a great flat picking guitar too, strumming and especially arpeggios. And of course like all Taylor guitars it plays so easily!

Stunning tone on the 612 CE
Beautiful guitar. Needed to have it reshimmed after purchase to have it set up for my style of playing, but Taylor provided the luthier to swap them at no cost even though it was more than a year after purchase. Jeff Malia did a fantastic job setting the guitar up.
Overall I love this guitar, the sound is clear and precise and has a nice aged mellow tone to it. I bought this primarily to record and have sit in sometimes dense mixes and it does that exceptionally well. The dreadnoughts that I have do not cut through without loads of eq for the type of production that I do, so this is a great fit.
The actual build of the guitar is sublime.
Overall I love this guitar, the sound is clear and precise and has a nice aged mellow tone to it. I bought this primarily to record and have sit in sometimes dense mixes and it does that exceptionally well. The dreadnoughts that I have do not cut through without loads of eq for the type of production that I do, so this is a great fit.
The actual build of the guitar is sublime.
