Builder's Edition 652ce
The first 12-string entry in our Builder's Edition family of guitars, the Builder's Edition 652ce sports Big Leaf maple back and sides that deliver a focused, player-reflective sound that showcases your individual technique. Torrefied Sitka spruce for the top brings an aged-in warmth and sweetness with V-Class bracing to dial up the volume and sustain. The reverse-strung setup (with the heavier string of each pair on top) generates more tonal heft in this Grand Concert's rich octave shimmer, and other Builder's Edition features include a beveled armrest and cutaway, chamfered body edges, a Silent Satin finish and a smooth Curve Wing bridge. The Builder's Edition 652ce ships with ES2 electronics and a deluxe hardshell case.

Are there any repercussions on restringing the guitar with the lighter gauge on top?
No, but you would need to change the nut and saddle as well.
Does the reverse string setup sound much different than the standard 12 String ( smaller gage on top ) and is it better for picking? Thanks, Ed
The fundamental string on top provides a deeper fuller tone with less focus on the octave's shimmer. Whether or not this configuration is better, can be determined by each individual player.
ALWAYS wanted a 12 string Taylor with cutaway. Does this guitar ever go on sale? I would never be able to afford $4,200. Just wondering. I know it's well worth the price, just that unfortunately I would never be able to afford one.

Are there some differences in tone between 652 and 652 whb? It’s just different color of the top?

My old 600 has an amber stain instead of brown. Can I order one in a different color?
No, there are no color options on this model.

What gauge strings come on the 652ce BE?
They have a light gauge 12 string set .010-.047.
I've heard 12 strings shouldn't be tuned to standard pitch. Is that true for the 652?
This guitar was designed to be tuned to standard pitch, there's no need to tune lower.
I like this guitar but could I get it with a Florentine cutaway?
No, a Florentine cutaway is not available on this model.
The body wood looks brown on most of these, is it maple like 600's have been historically?
Yes, we still use maple for the back and sides but we started staining it brown in 2014 when the series was redesigned. The 618e is the exception with it's Antique Blonde finish treatment.
What case do these come with?
All 600 series models ship in a deluxe brown hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Best sounding 12-string.
This 12 fret 12-string may be the best sounding 12-string I have ever played, thanks to the bridge closer to the middle of the lower bout and the reverse stringing which reduces the jangle often associated with 12-strings and maple body guitars. I bought this because my arthritis was getting in the way of playing 555 - I no longer have the reach or the span of fingers. I love this instrument.
