Builder's Edition 652ce WHB
Back and sides of solid Big Leaf maple voiced with personal touches from Andy Powers set the Builder's Edition 652ce WHB 12-string guitar apart from the rest of the Taylor line. Coupled with a torrefied spruce top, maple produces a vibrant sound with a transparent quality that emphasizes the unique style of each player, while the special roasting process for the soundboard adds a touch of aged-in sweetness. V-Class bracing draws out more volume and sustain while making for a cleaner harmony between notes all the way down the neck, and the reverse-strung setup (with the heavier string on top of each pair) delivers more midrange heft and warmth. The comfortable Grand Concert body is appointed with an armrest, rolled edges, a beveled cutaway and our Silent Satin finish.

The guitar specs of the 652ce 12 string say it is supplied with D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light (.012 - .053) yet an answer below says .010 -.017. Which is correct please as I wish to buy a spare set and would like the correct strings? Thanks.
That is a typo on the site I will have fixed. We string this up with D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light (.010 -.047)

What difference does the reverse string set-up make to the classical/fingerstyle voice of the BE 652ce WHB compared to other 12 string set-ups?
The down strokes will be warm and full with the fundamental string being struck first. The upstrokes would be bright and shimmery with the octave being struck first.
Hello. I have yet to decide which to have so I need to ask: If the Taylor 362ce All-Mahogany is the choice for "Traditional" Blues, to which styles of Blues would the Taylor Builder's Edition 652ce WHB be most suited?
The 652ce WHB could be a good choice for modern blues, it all depends on the sound you're going for as a player.
Why is the base strings set on top rather than the harmonic strings and does Taylor plan on expanding this to their other models?
The reversed octaves set up is only available on the 652ce Builder's Editions, no plans to expand to other models. This was the preference of our master luthier Andy Powers who designs the Builder's Editions to his personally preferred specs.
I've just got my new 652 and immediately broke the high octave G string. Can I change the one string or do both have to be changed as they go in the same hole? I tried to find info about how to change the strings on this guitar but haven't found one.
You can just change the one string, but loosen the other one so you can remove the pin to install it.
Do you have any 12string 12fret options?
This is a 12 fret 12 string. We also have the 352ce and 362ce.
My old 600 has an amber stain instead of brown. Can I order one in a different color?
No, there are no color options on this model.

Yes, all guitars in the 600 series have genuine West African Crelicam ebony fretboards and bridges.

Yes - all 600 series models are solid wood construction.
What case do these come with?
All 600 series models ship in a deluxe brown hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.
The body wood looks brown on most of these, is it maple like 600's have been historically?
Yes, we still use maple for the back and sides but we started staining it brown in 2014 when the series was redesigned. The 618e is the exception with it's Antique Blonde finish treatment.
I like this guitar but could I get it with a Florentine cutaway?
No, a Florentine cutaway is not available on this model.
I've heard 12 strings shouldn't be tuned to standard pitch. Is that true for the 652?
This guitar was designed to be tuned to standard pitch, there's no need to tune lower.
What gauge strings come on the 652ce BE?
They have a light gauge 12 string set .010-.047.

Builder's Edition 652ce WHB
I bought a 652ce WHB after looking at other manufacturers 12 strings. This guitar has an amazing voice along with ease of play that was conspicuously missing form the other guitars. The refinements in design make the 652ce WHB a pleasure to play! I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a 12 string.
