812ce 12-Fret

Watch Video

With their intimate feel and relaxed fretting, our 12-fret guitars offer players a unique musical personality with incredible playing comfort. Available now through our online guitar store, the 812ce 12-Fret features a Grand Concert body with Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top, and V-Class bracing inside, producing top-end sparkle and warmth in the bass range with plenty of volume and sustain. The compact body helps keep notes articulate and clear, making this a great choice for fingerstyle players. A radius-style armrest takes the edge off the lower bout for a more seamless feel, and ES2 electronics deliver organic live sound. The 812ce 12-Fret ships with a deluxe hardshell case.

Features

Grand Concert

A compact shape with a clear, articulate voice, strong sustain, and a highly touch-sensitive, expressive response.

Indian Rosewood

The tonewood superstar. Popular, traditional, and versatile, Bob Taylor puts Indian rosewood among the greatest tonewoods ever.

Spruce

The soundboard choice for most guitars, Sitka spruce produces a broad dynamic range and accommodates a versatile range of playing styles.

Expression System® 2

The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.

Venetian Cutaway

The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the body.

V-Class Bracing

Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns.

I’ve owned 12 fret guitars, and a Taylor 800 series standard scale guitar. Best sounding acoustic guitar I ever owned. Gave it to my son. I’m interested in a 2017 812CE that is for sale in a little music shop in Black Mountain NC that barely survived Hurricane Helene. Could we get a video of the 812 that is more than strumming? It’s a guitar designed for finger picking.

The. Best. Guitar. (Under $10k)

5 out of 5 stars Chris M.

I’ve owned a dozen guitars. This is the best one I’ve ever owned. It has a unique feel, playability, and balance. It sounds fantastic louder with more bass and reverb and sustain than you’d expect. If you spend over $10k you can find better combinations of size, materials etc but this thing outshines guitars twice as expensive. It’s unique design and style… particularly the 12 fret and open headstock design… it’s just the perfect combo. Taylor makes the best guitars and this is the best Taylor you can buy outside their Pro series or custom.

Great feeling, easy to play, and very high quality guitar. Taylor makes a wide variety of guitars in different sizes, woods, and tones. This 812ce 12-Fret is the perfect fit for me.

Unique guitar with a great sound

5 out of 5 stars jajordan74

This is a beautiful guitar and sounds great. I learned on classical guitars and play on nylon crossover guitars so I was curious about the 12 fret version. The 12 fret with the already slightly smaller scale length of the grand concert makes this a very playable guitar. It has deeper sounds compared to the normal 14 fret version. It's a very short neck which makes it very comfortable. The highest you can capo this would be at the 7th or 8th fret. I play finger style and strum without a pick. I've played this plugged in at gigs and it sounds great.

My favorite guitar!

5 out of 5 stars Happy Customer

Best guitar I've ever owned, and I've owned more than a few! 12-Fret/V-Brace design projects much better than I imagined. Excellent intonation up and down the neck. This is the most comfortable instrument I have played and find myself losing time during longer sessions.
Thank you Taylor Guitars for all your efforts to advance the art of building of acoustic guitars.

Even Better Than I Hoped

5 out of 5 stars RJ W.

Great sound. Very comfortable size for me. Thought the "12 fret" layout would feel different but it does not. Seems to stay tuned longer than my other guitars. Simply wonderful.

Great guitar and. Great experience

5 out of 5 stars Gene N.

I bought my Taylor at my local music store. I believe in shopping locally and I appreciate the relationship with the management and employees. There’s nothing like a local store for service and support.

I really am enjoying my Taylor. I’m a finger picker so chose the 12 fret the sound is wonderful and the playability superb.
