How loud is this type of guitar, unplugged, compared to a traditional acoustic?
While it's not as loud as a standard acoustic model, it still offers enough volume to make it a great couch guitar.

Position 1
Under-Fretboard Humbucker and Body Sensor in series.
Activating the hidden neck pickup and body sensor, Position 1 is
where you'll find the most acoustic-like tones.
Position 2
Under-Fretboard Humbucker.
The body sensor is switched off, leaving only the neck pickup active
and yielding warm, round tones. This is a great position for solos and
a good place to experiment with the tone controls. Try rolling back the
Treble knob for darker tones.
Position 3
Bridge Humbucker.
We move into the bridge pickup zone and one of the most versatile
tonal ranges. Position 3 will go from "spanky" and clean, all the way
to "full-tilt crunch." Start out with the Volume at the detent (center)
then roll it up to "push" the amp.
Position 4
Bridge Humbucker and Under-Fretboard Humbucker in parallel.
The neck pickup is re-activated and runs in parallel with the bridge
pickup. You might find it reminiscent of a '50s hollowbody with a slight
scoop. In Position 4 you'll find one of many unique T5 tones.
Position 5
Bridge Humbucker and Under-Fretboard Humbucker in series.
The neck and bridge pickups are now running in series, creating a full
and bright sound that's great for thick lead tones. Change the Volume
settings and watch its "personality" change.

The guitar performs best with electric strings. Rather then changing strings, maybe try a different pick. Models with Koa, Maple, or Spruce soundboards will provide different tonal characteristics.
Does it take double AA or 9V?
9-Volt.
Can I use .09 lite gauge on this guitar?
Yes, but the guitar will likely need to be set up for the difference in tension.
Does the t5z koa custom have a gloss finish?

Just got my T5Z Custom Koa and it is so nice I am happy but the volume knob moves so easy it turns the volume down with my little finger so I stop to readjust back and that has happed so many times it has stop me from playing. can it be adjusted some how ? ? ?

I recently purchased a T5Z custom Koa. It's very comfortable guitar to play. If you wanna just strum or practice without an amp you can do so easily. Due to the noise outside my condo I purchased a Yamaha THR amp . The combination provides great acoustic and electric tones and work with headphones.

Find the money and buy it
I have a T5X Classic which I played for years, then switched to the Fender Acoustasonic when they came out a few years ago. There were pros and cons to both. In June of last year, I bought this T5z Custom KOA and it is by far the very best guitar I've ever had the good fortune to play. It's easy to play, fits me well, and the bevelled edge is a great feature. The range of sounds is excellent (better than the T5X and WAY better than the Fender). Particularly coming from the Fender, this guitar seems SO much higher quality. It honestly feels like a Mercedes compared to a KIA. The volume and tone knobs are better and provide easier access at the bottom of the guitar. If I had any criticism, it might be that the "pots" themselves are so well-engineered and assembled, that they are too smooth and if your hand bumps the volume knob while strumming, it can change unintentionally. I am so happy. Thank you Taylor for producing this gem. If you can afford it, or even if you can't really afford it, get it...you'll be glad you did.
