The American Dream Series is Taylor's gateway to the world of solid-wood, U.S.-made acoustic guitars. These models boast all the projection, sustain and tonal depth a player would expect from a Taylor, thoughtfully distilled to the essentials of a satisfying playing experience. Choose from the warm, seasoned sound of the Grand Pacific dreadnought, the compact and articulate Grand Concert — both voiced with our tone-enhancing V-Class bracing — or the scaled-down GT, featuring C-Class bracing for extra low-end power. All models feature chamfered body edges to level up the playing comfort, along with slender, easy-playing Taylor necks. Our most affordable family of solid-wood guitars, the American Dream Series offers a choice of warm, woody walnut with spruce, punchy and focused sapele with mahogany, and an all-maple Flametop.
Innovation Inside, Comfort Outside
Every model in the American Dream Series is built with tone-enhancing V- or C-Class bracing, which voices the guitar in a way that produces unmatched clarity, volume and sustain. On the outside, these guitars feature chamfered edges for a smoother, more accommodating feel.
Expression System 2 Acoustic Pickup
All models in the American Dream Series are available with ES2 electronics, the proprietary under-saddle pickup and preamp that delivers authentic acoustic tone when you plug in through an amp or PA. Select models are available without electronics.
Simple Details for a Neo-Traditional Aesthetic
The American Dream Series is appointed with subtle details that evoke an old-school sensibility, including 4mm dot fretboard inlays, faux tortoiseshell pickguards (except Blacktop models), a thin matte finish for an extra lively response, and a Tobacco Sunburst top finish for models ending in “SB.”

Sporting a striking matte black finish treatment for the spruce top, the AD17 Blacktop is a Grand Pacific dreadnought that blends its traditional footprint with a contemporary visual flair.

Befitting its large, dreadnought- style dimensions, the AD17 delivers powerful volume projection but, unlike the typical scooped mids of a dreadnought, its mid- range is impressively boosted, providing a rich, sweet, well-balanced voice that is ideal for fingerstyle as well as punchy rhythm playing.

The resonance and sustain is also impressive, with decay that retains body and blends seamlessly with the percussive blast of the initial pick attack.
For weeks, I attacked the AD27 with everything in my arsenal: gentle melodies, aggressively bendy blues, jaunty gypsy jazz, Pete Townshend-esque strumming, bass-style snaps and pops, and country picking. The Taylor handled it all without complaint.
Even after traveling across country in a shipping box, the AD27 had low, buzz-free action right out of the case—and it stayed that way through some humid New York summer weeks. The intonation was excellent, and the tuning remained stable over long sessions. This is a guitar that wants to be played.
Taylor has managed to cut costs while preserving the quality you’d expect from a premium American-made instrument—and added a new voice to its guitar choir along the way.

If single notes and arpeggios ring sweetly, strummed chords can sound loud, massive, and robust.
Physically and sonically, the AD27 was able to stand up to my very heavy right hand. It never lost composure or sounded strident—no matter how hard I strummed.
...the AD27’s tone is deeper than almost any acoustic I’ve played. It sounds thick and full—but not dull. Although the treble range sounds clear and articulate, it’s accompanied by a rich undertone that gives single notes a stamp of authority.
Not only do the guitars offer maximum bang-for-the-buck, in the AD27e you get a wood combination that’s not available on any other Grand Pacific model.
